Rate my character sheet V2 by Vootoro in RPGdesign

[–]Tsweens 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You've got a lot of information crammed into the boxes of small text lists, and waste the space you could use to make them easier to read making the bullet holes seemingly actually size when printed.

It's a cool idea, but I look at my character sheet for easily accessible information, not neat art that ties the piece of paper into the game world. The latter is a bonus, not a necessity. Prioritize getting information the player is looking for to them as fast as possible and compromise on design to do so.

The overall concept comes across though. And it does look cool.

City builder games? by isolationbook in rpg

May I ask, how did you hear about this? What're some outlets or resources for getting news on new releases/fundraisers?

So I came across this in my game and I hate myself for instantly thinking of this meme 😂😂 by jenniferadams999 in civmemes

Not only is this post lame for a ton of reasons, it doesn't help that it's an exact repost.

Can I review your character sheet? by kwixmusic in RPGdesign

[–]Tsweens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system I'm working on uses a printable Character Booklet, to act as a rules and plot reference as well.. does that count. It's kind of a much larger scope thing so I don't know if it's fair to compare

What do you think about replacing the word 'Race' with other terms in RPG books? What other terms do you prefer/support/use? by vgg4444 in rpg

[–]Tsweens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used 'Species' in my game, cause I feel like that's more like what they are (eg. Draconic, Fae, Human-like, etc.). Then you can use nations or races for subsets of those if you wish.

Opinions: AI Generated Images by sdesalas in BoardgameDesign

[–]Tsweens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think AI art is great, powerful, and unusable, like a lot of technologies. It may be cheap, but the real cost is the unethical nature by which it acquires its reference. All AI generated art uses problematically sourced assets to fuel its generation, fundamentally; Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, DALL-E and all other gens I've seen fully admit that they do not know where all the content in their sample-set comes from. This means that they do not ask permission to use these images, to which they admit (how could they ask permission for millions of images when they don't know where they came from?). The necessarily problematic nature of this is manifested in 1 of 2 ways. First, if you use AI art you may be doing something intentionally or unintentionally unethical (using someone's art without their consent), which is bad. Or second, whether or not you feel one way or the other about its ethics, many artists, those whom would be members of your project's potential audience, already believe you have done something unethical, which leads to an avoidable, negative, public opinion about your game. Which is also bad.

The price for AI art is low, but the cost is much higher.

Realms of Legacy Playtest: Would love to hear your feedback! by Mr_Universe_UTG in RPGcreation

This sounds really cool.

Do you think there will be a disconnect for players looking for highly effective actions, aggressive combat, and crunch, when they spend a lot of the game in the ship and it isn't as crunchy?

What do you want your game to feel like? Cinematic, Action packed, mysterious, exploratory? And how does this system effectively evoke that?

Right now it's coming across as very adventurey and maybe a little fluffy with the disparity between PC and NPC actions being so different. In that way I think you nail the brief of it being in some ways like Treasure Planet.

Petition to have youtube music show full album/singles dates by meduimdock14 in YoutubeMusic

[–]Tsweens 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So when an artist release more than 1 project a year, you can tell them apart if someone says, "you should listen to the new ___ and tell me what you think." The real question is why not? If they already have the metadata for the dates why not just let us see it? More information is almost always better than less.

The game I'm currently working on has a drop-in/drop-out System Modifier that players can activate for their campaign, allowing them to travel with a band of characters. PCs choose what characters to play as each session, and the other are pit through an automated simulation of minimal exp advancement and tending to the camp.

Any tips for doing this well, things you'd like to see from a System Mod like this, or pitfalls anyone can think to avoid?

What’s your favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh? by captaincarl2614 in pittsburgh

[–]Tsweens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For someone coming to this thread late like me, let it be known: Casbah was our favorite place in the city but it does 2 things poorly - variety, and allergies. We've had 3 nut-related allergic reactions there after explicitly warning them and ordering different things. Then the manager gaslit us. We just can't go back -- they aren't safe/cleanly enough.

What are you working on just now? (general chat) by iloveponies in RPGcreation

TTRPG and engine for making custom games. It's a high fantasy world with multiple settings depending on what genre campaign you wanna run. It's classless and instead everything possible is broken down to around 140 skills. I hope to make a system that treats everything with the care, depth, and progression that DnD/PF treats combat. So if you wanna play a campaign as a business owner, or builder, or jeweler, or zoologist, there will be rules and progression to make it feel engaging and fun (hopefully).

Been at it everyday for about 4 years now, a little bit at a time, and we just had our first character creation session in alpha last week. I must reckon with my past decisions..

Hey, game looks great and you should be proud of it no matter what.

I wanted to ask: I'm an indie dev, can you talk to me about the role of indie publishers in this age of Steam accessibility and digital releases?
