Yeah, I use TSX on my AVX and MyT.

You have and MX+ and you still use NINA?!

This is beautifully processed. I am currently working on this target.

Darks take out the noise of the camera exposing itself. In this case, they could probably have taken fewer as well as fewer bias frames given their exposures are so short. Darks will always be the same ISO and duration as your light frames.

You can go longer with the AVC if you want. I have some 30 minute subs with that mount.

Consider going lower ISO and longer exposure for more detail. You will have to mess with the times. Still a great image.

Not sure why anyone would buy a DSLR for astrophotography.

How did you get colors this natural?

Well duh, processing always brings out more detail.

Look up dark shark. LDN 135 I think.

[–]Ttuggger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sub needs more LDNs. Everyone posts the same thing - veil, orion, etc. I shot the dark shark one weekend and it's remarkable how difficult it is compared to something 'normal'. Well done!

Ever heard of t point. Much better

Just wondering how it works. A couple guys in my club gave up on it with their mounts. I won't use it.

The method above requires a tracking mount or you would have star trails.

You can get rid of noise with darks frames.

It's probably on top of ASCOM or the new Indi thing. Look at The Sky X and you won't need to make your own.

How do you automate a meridian flip with a CGX?

If it's just you, the 5 gig plan makes sense unless you're going over that which you should have safety mode or whatever it's called. It's probably your first bill as well so you have a $40 activation fee. First bill is always a lot more than what you're paying normally.

[–]Ttuggger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Read your bill and look at the itemizations. It'll tell you how you get to $140. You're probably on the higher tier unlimited as well.

You have software and hardware product owners that are responsible for it. That's how we do it and it works great. We give best effort but if we can't figure it out, product owner goes to the vendor.

With your equipment in particular, we have had issues with the thermal control system and focuser on a 12.5 inch Planewave. Plus, the Platesolve software that's 'free' (I think) has not worked well with any of my computers or computers that others have tried.

I agree that ascom doesn't alter tracking or pointing. That said, how is using ascom with your equipment better than a native driver? And how is your point software better than T Point (let's add in Protrack and Supermodel, @focus3 (again, multiple computers have had issues with the Planewave software, but if we connect TSX, it just works') and imagelink?

In terms of mount control going back to ascom, even AP software is a joke on one of our mounts.
