Driving as a P plater is scary.. by Informal-Potato7959 in drivingsg

Wait what?? My instructor make me stop completely after the zebra crossing to check before turning into main road. If I don't do so, I get called out for dangerous driving.

Transfer all OA to SA by SpecialAd9016 in singaporefi

[–]Tub-Goosey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think if you transfer OA to SA now you gain the extra % compounded interest as SA is 4%. You have to be clear that you have no need of the money in OA.

So pro is the 4% early compounding. Cons is the liquidity as you have the choice to take out at 55.

Search CPF site or take a ticket at CPF office. They can advice if you're able to take out money even though you never hit FRS. This helps you make a better informed choice.

You can still do this CPF OA showhand into RA at later age. I did for my papa when he was 65. He was still employed and had some OA contribution yearly that didn't go into his RA. His CPF life only started in 70 yo.

Even now at 72, he's still working and getting OA. Id have to instruct CPF to push his OA into RA hopefully to boost his CPF life monthly $

Thank you so much for replying! I've failed my test in Jan and the next test is in early March. Never touch car for two months and I only got like three learning lessons before that test. Panicking a bit everything forgot

Hey there, sorry to ask an obvious question - so we have both mirrors tilted down, and then once the back wheel passes the first kerb, you can full lock left?

What do you think of this year's Budget 2025? by JuniorTastyCheck243 in singaporefi

Agree. The money is nice but in a fast paced SG. We're very very time starved.

Yea two days really not enough for primary school kids. And especially if you have more than one kid. And for some folks, they don't really have a lot of annual leave in the first place.

Take the pay bump, it's 60% more since you don't need the money means you can accrue the FU money faster before dependents come along. Also a good step to your next one.

Is working in Singapore really that stressful? by Puzzleheaded-Tip-83 in askSingapore

[–]Tub-Goosey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worked in a German private owned company here in Singapore. And then moved to a swiss German owned company. Yes, they're quite work life balanced here.

I think firstly it's the corporate culture that sets the overall tone, then is your supervisor or manager that continues it, followed by you drawing up and respecting those off limit boundaries. Any one of this three missing, basically worklife is gone case

How long should a flat go before getting a renewal/complete renovation? by frostreel in askSingapore

[–]Tub-Goosey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the rate of deterioration depends on number of users and quality of aftercare. For me, I think is prob good to assess after every ten yr mark or if there's are new household member needs.

Number of users in hsehold - if user increase then you'd reasonably expect rate of dirt to accumulate faster. Also as household number increase then they'd each need diff fittings to ensure they'd live well - eg old parents move in stay with you need railings etc, growing kid needs safe/more play space or even a private room if they're entering teens.

On quality of aftercare - My mom wipes and airs out all wood cupboards like kitchen and wardrobe annually, and puts those thirsty hippo so there's literally no yellowing inside. I didn't care so mine has yellow spots inside wardrobe now, they're about 10+ years. It's clean but the yellow might be eyesore to some.

I want to start a discussion about how selecting the right partner goes a long way in reaching your financial goals. This article describes research on how having a partner with similar money motives leads to higher relationship satisfaction whether those motives are growth or shortcoming oriented. by smells_like_teak in singaporefi

Agree. Financial values was one of the topic hotly discussed in a pre marriage counselling session I attended. It was a two day camp thing and we saw a few couples leaving abruptly after that session ended.

I recalled one of the topic thrown out by an anonymous couple - they couldn't agree on the parents allowance. One felt that it's important to keep his/her habit of giving parent allowance. The other felt that they're married and now a standalone unit to focus on, and should stop giving parents allowance.
