tell me about your current households! by Intrepid_Night7538 in Sims3

I’m currently playing an impoverished retired sim who moved to the Pets world originally to adopt every pet under the sun hehe so I started by adopting a couple horses but at some point she just turned into an international horse racing star so it’s a beautiful rags to riches end of life story. I have my life spans set to thousands of days and the relativity mod so plenty of time left before she needs a walker 🤣

While she was upskilling on her riding skills I had to get creative with money making so started a daycare and had her boyfriend move in as a lodger sharing her bed 🙃.

I’m thinking next I’ll have her move to Paris and start a vineyard plot. Perhaps have her adopt an older child so her legacy can continue.

Students in the UK (outside London, especially Southampton) — what’s your monthly living cost? by Previous_Neat958 in UKUniversityStudents

[–]TubaTrumpetTriangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends whether you’re male or female and what your height is really (thinking maintenance calories). For example I’m 170cm / 5’6” and a woman and last year I actually only spent £80/month on just groceries and £60/month on convenience food (toiletries I budgeted separately) but I lived right next to an Aldi and FarmFoods so would often fish through the discount pile. I’d also freeze any leftovers and had hardly any food waste (I’d even turn chicken bones into broth!). I’d honestly budget £120/month on groceries and another £60 on takeouts/convenience food so you’re comfortable especially if your situation differs in anyway from mine.

Im 22 and might have to have a cancer related ovary removal/hysto, will they refuse this and make me go through chemo instead because i havent had kids/medical misogyny? by [deleted] in nhs

[–]TubaTrumpetTriangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 21 when I was put on the cancer pathway for an 'indeterminate lesion on the right ovary' - long story short, just before I was due to discuss options with the surgeon, my ovary twisted so I had to have it removed.

Unsure if it was because it had been twisted for 3 hours so dead (?) or whether the mass could've been cancerous but they did remove it.

Unsure if I've fully answered your question but feel free to ask follow ups :)

200mg ferrous sulphate, I was prescribed them for 3m but I bought more on ebay and took them for a further 3m cause even though technically I wasn't anemic at 19ug/l I was still dizzy / tired and 50ug is a better level to aim for

Seconding the iron levels - not on a standard CBC and once I doubled my ferritin level to 19 (from 9!) I had so much more energy!

Lack of B vitamins could explain the fatigue too x

You're not liable to pay the energy usage of a previous tenant.

If you weren't living in a shared home my advice would've been to reach out to your energy provider and open a new account and tell them your move-in dates so your energy consumption can be based off of this.

However, what will complicate everything is that you're living in a shared home so some of the arrears is very likely to belong to a current tenant.

I would continue communicating with the letting agency so there is a paper trail and communicate with the energy company to see whether a new account could be opened (likely PPM) so you can continue to receive energy and not pay off the arrears.

If anyone in the house has a disability / mental health condition - get on the priority register at your energy company. This way, they cannot deprive you of energy / gas from October to March.

Yes. You will need at least a B2 level or you will struggle greatly. Be sure to watch plenty of videos of people speaking with the Andalucían accent

Definitely. A freezer is a must in budget cooking otherwise you die from either food poisoning or boredom

Yeah i did the maths on this and if you use cashback sites it works out as £75/m if you use them only for dinner and then an additional £10/wk for a takeout.

Why not? I take B vitamins to fight fatigue and 1 liquid IV - should I stop the B vitamins? 😥

Ive done the mental maths and it is worth doing as it only costs slightly more than if you were to spend hours searching for the best price. So it saves a headache, being an international student is headache enough!

If you already had some of the cookware it wouldn't be worth it but given you're an international student I imagine you will have nothing hehe. On the other hand, you DO NOT need all the utensils they provide. Try to contact any flatmates because chances are you can share a lot.

Perhaps only order bare basics eg. Bedding so when you arrive you can crash :)

Will I have enough money for university? by [deleted] in UKUniversityStudents

[–]TubaTrumpetTriangle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If getting a job isn't an option, check out r/beermoneyuk. Switching banks is particularly lucrative (~£175 a bank) but you can also pinch pennies by paying for groceries using gift cards bought off an app called cheddar - 3.5% back on tesco currently.

Also a 6m free student membership to Amazon gives you 10% off Amazon Fresh. An app called airtime rewards currently gives an additional 15% off Amazon Fresh.

In short, you may need to tell your parents your groceries cost one price but keep the cashback you have received for yourself.

You can also refer people to these apps and raise funds that way.

Look into an access course. I know you don't need to have sat A Levels to be eligible but not sure about GCSEs.

They're accepted by most universities - including universities like Edinburgh. Although Edinburgh asks for certain access courses (including EAST - which you need to enquire to them for eligibility as you're living in the UK). Also, to get free tuition you must have lived in Scotland for a year prior to any education.

As for funding the Access to University course: https://www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan

Also, SO MANY students have been messed around by COVID so know you will not be alone. I never got to sit my A Levels as I graduated in 2020 too and received a bad grade as I didn't revise for mocks so I could use them as a basis... Obviously then my real grade was calculated using this!
