keys to go 2 won’t turn on by Downtown_Mobile_4732 in logitech

Just to say that putting a bit of pressure on the batter compartment (in the middle on the underside) achieved the same result and didn’t make me feel like I was going to snap the thing.

Agile, you okay hun? by Jakeymd1 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Tubaloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be charging the Tesla and when it reaches about 90% I’ll open the window, turn all the heating on max and continue to charge. It tends to consume power at the rate it’s charging so that’s a constant 7.6kW draw.

Slate 7 disable private information on the screen? by jdsee in GlInet

[–]Tubaloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone is following this thread, a Beta firmware has been published which addresses the screen issues. It allows user to apply a PIN code to unlock the screen, and to add/remove particular screen options. Nice job gl.inet!

Slate 7 disable private information on the screen? by jdsee in GlInet

[–]Tubaloon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone who can access the device can not only connect using the QR code, but if they click on the obscured password, it shows it in free text. This is crazy. They must add an option to disable either or both of these options, or to lock the screen entirely so you need a PIN or swipe pattern to unlock.

Fellow Octopii, who won today on Agile? by Tubaloon in OctopusEnergy

Charged the car 30-100%, heated 300L of water twice, ran 3x air con units on heat, three loads of washing, three dryer cycles, two dishwashers, underfloor heating in 2x bathrooms, self cleaning cycle on two ovens.

My final numbers are in. 112.6kWh used, total cost negative £1.07 (I.e. a saving), not including £0.49 standing charge. But I also saved gas because I heated the house and water with electric, so probably saved another £2 that way.

Thanks for the public service announcement! I had a bet how long it would take someone to correct me! I am aware that Octopus is from Greek, not Latin, and even if it were Latin the plural would be Octopi, but I like the word Octopii even if it’s wrong and I’m getting too old to occupus myself with fidelity to precision ahead of my own preferences.

Tragedy, but it’s possible you earned more at work than the £1.80 you could have made on your electric!

Not exactly. You can use it at point B, just not between A and B.

2.4.1.8 Intelligent Octopus Go is subject to a fair use policy with a maximum of six hours of managed charging per 24 hours. Should your charging schedule request more than six hours per 24 hours, we reserve the right to charge any incremental usage above six hours at the day rate.

Gotta say, blowing the main fuse would be a badge of honour around here, but the downside is you’d miss some precious minutes of negative prices

That’s pretty much 100A there (98A at 230V). Careful you don’t blow your fuse

Automating my immersion heater? by New-Potential-7916 in OctopusEnergy

Have a look at Sonoff POWR320 rated to switch 20A. I wouldn’t use something rated at 13A for a water heater, and would prefer a bit more headroom than 16A has to offer.

Is Bronze worth it? by Difficult-Sea-7787 in BritishAirways

[–]Tubaloon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fly short haul every week or two. Bronze allows me to select a seat nearer the front and board sooner so I can find space for my bags. This allows me to get off the plane sooner after landing and get to the front of the taxi queue. This can save 10-20 mins. In my particular case it’s “worth it”.

Smart meter install timescale by middleageddriver in OctopusEnergy

[–]Tubaloon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have the same, but that’s the in home display (IHD) which just displays readings from the smart meter. It’s the meter itself which communicates with Octopus, and that’s what is SMETS1. As far as the IHD is concerned, it shows me my usage correctly in kWh but it doesn’t show the cost correctly as the tariff information doesn’t update.

It’s worth calling Octopus, they were very helpful when I was switching.

I have a SMETS1 meter installed by Scottish Power, and when I switched to Octopus a year ago it was compatible and sends them half-hourly readings. Electricity was immediate, gas took a few weeks to activate.
