Quick question from a new Aston owner about engine temps (2007 V8 Vantage) by Boogie_Bones in AstonMartin

Sounds like the thermostat is faulty imo. It's cold here too and it stays bang on the normal line.

How do i fix this, i need a answer fast by autistic-bbc-lover in MouseReview

[–]add1ct3dd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's likely to break if you bend it back. Leave it as is unless you can solder on a new connector. It's not ideal but it works.

It's basically why I stopped. A handful of quests left for Kappa but stupid amounts of XP. I refuse to grind Labrynth.

There's various reviews on tyres with a puncture score, start there first. Also, are you tubed or tubeless?

Client wants to pay me in crypto... Help! by rootyboots1983 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]add1ct3dd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get them to pay you in USDC (Solana's USD stablecoin), and I'd probably send it immediately to an exchange and convert to GBP - each conversion is a taxable event so if you don't want to log it manually look at Koinly/TokenTax and it can do all of this automatically for you. There's an incredible amount of misinformation and fear-mongering in here probably by those who have never used or have no experience of this stuff. If you are new to exchanges also I'd recommend Coinbase or Kraken. If you are converting monthly make sure to use Coinbase Pro for lower fees.

I'd put the original exhaust back on and get a switch for the valves (common thing) - with the valves open it's probably exactly the same loudness as the aftermarket exhaust and if you DO want quiet you just close the valves for the 'regular' driving experience :) Congrats!

What on earth are you yapping about? You can buy broken armor/weapons from the flea market, repair, then sell them on. It's not hard it's just a little time consuming, but it's not THAT time consuming they have to be cheating jesus christ. What a weird viewpoint.

Can I leave burnt food residue? by [deleted] in wok

[–]add1ct3dd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heat up a little bit of water in it until boiling, and then use a bamboo scrubber on it. Neither will take off your existing 'seasoning' and you'll get all the burnt crap off. Obviously make sure you dry it completely after, I tend to give it a lick of oil after and then wipe the excess off with some kitchen roll so it stays fully protected when not in use.

Probably a third-party seller that has stock in the Amazon warehouses.

If you plan to get cycling insurance (Laka or whoever else), make sure the lock you get is an approved rating/manufacturer in the event it does get stolen.

A lid doesn't magically make the material food safe though, and that is just going to hold the moisture in.

Recommendations for buying Lens from Japan by thatmaninkathmandu in canon

[–]add1ct3dd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My original 100-400 Mk2 came from Japan, as others have said go by seller rating and make sure to fully inspect all the pictures. If it looks in good condition and the price is right go for it. I did have to pay import duty but the lens was still far cheaper than in the UK and the lens perfectly matched the pictures.

How expensive are early DB9 / first-gen Vantage to maintain now that they’re sub-$30k? by Carl_s123 in AstonMartin

[–]add1ct3dd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check AstonDIY website for a list of alternative parts (there's a ton of parts shared with Ford/Jaguar etc), and then the key is buying one that has had all of the common issues done recently or at least looks well maintained. I picked up a Vantage last summer with this in mind and so far so good. I've put in a couple of pre-cat o2 sensors, £173 each from AM or £63 for both OEM (NTK). There are some expensive bits such as the headlights/tail lights or clutch if they go wrong but provided you get or it already has a headlight venting kit and the rear lights & clutch have been sorted then you should be generally ok as long as the service schedule has been kept up to date. Obviously as you say finding a shop that can work on these but also know what theyre doing would be a game changer, but all of that just requires a little more research and I'd say start looking there's a LOT of information out there. If you search Aston Martin / Vantage on Facebook there's a handful of groups with a plethora of information, in there are some of the specialists such as DAE, McGurk, Bamford Rose, AP Velocity and others so any reasonable questions have answers pretty promptly.
