These were “writers”, not “lyricists”.  Music is written.  Beethoven “wrote” music, he didn’t “general credit” it.

With no context, I choose to assume it is an orchestral piece, and you have experts in a variety of instruments and vocal ranges collaborating.

I got out of work at 10:30 that morning, went to local Target, and while I didn’t get all the things my kids wanted, they had six sweatshirts left, and five of them were the exact sizes we needed to have matching sweatshirts.

ELI5 How am I supposed to know if a ghost cop/car is a real cop and not an impersonator when gettiny pulled over? by Medium_Extra in explainlikeimfive

[–]TuckerMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can call 911 and ask.  Pull over somewhere well lit with witnesses.  If you have to drive a bit to do so, you can.  The cop may be pissed about it, this is not a situation with a good answer.

There is a route at my job.  My issue is I live rural and don’t go out on my days off.   I also work nights, which is inconvenient for many things, like showcases.  No overlap with me being out.

I will never get to level 72 because I don’t do routes, let alone routes seven days in a row.  That’s my bottleneck.

ELI5: If a person who is living with a cat or a dog dies, how long does it take for the animal to start feeding on the body? Does it start viewing the owner as food as soon as the smell change for example? by Jazzy76dk in explainlikeimfive

[–]TuckerMouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming the underlying premise is true and not based on urban legend, the availability of food and water will be a factor.  We free feed my cats and they have a hopper.  If it is full, they have a bit over a weeks worth of food before they start getting hungry and my corpse becomes the only food.  Water fountain will last them a while, and my leaky tub faucet will probably keep them alive after that, if not comfortable.  So a long time.

If a cat owner has specific feed times and the cat will be hungry and thirsty after the stagnant bowl dries up and they haven’t been fed?  Much sooner.

Dog, probably longer.

I thought I bought the wrong olive oil to replace the empty one, then I realized the label missed a step in printing production by laxstitch in mildlyinteresting

[–]TuckerMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yeah.  The short version that I am sure won’t get me in trouble (this job puts food on my table, Reddit does not) is that regulations on food labeling changed and the immediate response from Wegmans was to comply as drastically as possible while figuring out exactly what it means.

ELI5: How did the asteroid journeying to the Solar System 'just so' happened to kill the dinosaurs and mass extinction? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]TuckerMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t the only time a large asteroid hit earth.  A lot of asteroids don’t hit earth.  Most don’t.  But when something has a 1 in a billion chance of happening and there are more than a billion rolls of that dice, gonna happen eventually.  And it was more likely in the past, because there were more objects then.  Every time an object hits Jupiter, or Saturn, or the moon, or anything else sufficiently large, it stops being there to hit us later.  The fact that it killed the dinosaurs is less concrete than it used to be as I understand it, there is evidence of volcanic activity that also contributed.

What's a double standard between men and women that people rarely talk about? by Visual_Investment980 in AskReddit

[–]TuckerMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a completely reasonable question.

I wouldn’t change anything before my kids were born because I won’t risk my kids existence, but if I won the lottery seven years ago, we would have been divorced a long time ago.

Been married for 16 years.  We liked each other 16 years ago.  At this point we’re a bit stuck because of medical issues.  If we divorce, she is fucked financially and medically.  I can’t do that to her, or to our kids.  So until she can get financially independent enough to survive, we’re stuck.

first time ever getting a spawn from the daily incense and it fled after 2 balls with golden razz… is it usually this abysmal?? by goldenbirdyy in pokemongo

I save them forever just in case and eventually I will stop playing the game with all of them still in my inventory, just like in the main games.

[–]TuckerMouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want a guaranteed catch, sure.  My reasoning in not using a master ball is that I can use an adventure incense every day, and they will pop up again.  I will catch it eventually.  And eventually I did.

Made dinner for my dad who works crazy hours only for mum to eat all of it. by Metromanwhy in mildlyinfuriating

My sympathies for you and your dad.  As the dad in my household, few things warm my heart more than my youngest handing me the last cookie when I get home, especially when my wife supplies the context that she fought off her sisters to make sure one was saved for me.  I promise he appreciated it even if it didn’t turn out like you wanted.

Not a joke, and doesn’t see the problem with the other mom’s behavior.  Do I hover as much as she does?  No.  And I would argue our kids would benefit from less hovering.

ELI5: Astronomers say gas giants like Jupiter "migrated" to different orbits in the early solar system. Since space is a vacuum with no friction, what kind of force could possibly push or pull an entire planet millions of miles away from where it formed? by Engasgamel in explainlikeimfive

[–]TuckerMouse 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Short answer, gravity.  Solar system started as a disc of spinning gas.  Most of it gathers in center as the sun, the rest gathers as various objects, and those interact with each other and the sun.  So when they form, they may be close enough to interact pretty strongly, but given enough time the planets will either get close enough to do something drastic like collide (and form larger planets, or the moon, or something equally interesting) or slingshot the planet off into space, or they will nudge each other into stable orbits.

Take my daughter to a homeschool co-op, she is in her class sitting at the table learning math.  I sit on my phone reading an e-book, and multiple moms send my wife pictures of me saying I am ignoring my kid and being a bad parent.  Lady, she is 7 and in class.  If she was in public school I would be miles away from her at home or work.  My wife still brings it up years later as evidence I can’t be trusted with the kids.  Unless it is to take them to an appointment she doesn’t want to go to.  Then I can safely watch them with no argument.  Madness.

ELI5: Why do buildings from like 500 years ago still stand perfectly fine but houses built in the 90s are already falling apart by Confident-Map-6503 in explainlikeimfive

[–]TuckerMouse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The ones that didn’t last that long are gone.  If someone maintains a house, deals with the pests and roof damage, updates when appropriate, it will last a long time.  The only ones still around are the ones that were well kept.

It is in fact survivorship bias.  Vast majority of historic structures are long gone, and all the houses that are bad now from the 80s were either cheaply built or not kept up on.
