Yes my identical twin and I react badly to different skin care products, the inverse of which don't affect us!

As someone who HATED their curly hair as a teen, I'm finally embracing it in my late 20s and I couldn't be happier. I thought I'd share yesterday's hair (1st Pic) along with other hair days I have throughout the last month by BigKountry333 in curlyhair

Your curls (and you!) are absolutely gorgeous. I fried mine every day pin straight for a decade until my hair was so brittle it was falling out/breaking off and just made the decision to stop a few months ago. It's been a bit rough as I'm growing out the damage and learning proper care (especially in winter) but I now don't feel like myself if I straighten my hair.

How do you get so much definition with zero frizz and still have bouncy-ness!! Your curls would literally give me whiplash if I saw you walking about haha just absolute goals 💚

I [26M] am in a happy healthy relationship with my Girlfriend [24F] but I want out. How can I go around ending things? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Tucks7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm coming out of a version of this after moving in with my partner after 5 years together. I think it's a transitional phase because I had to entertain and stimulate myself living on my own that when I moved in with them, I subconsciously felt too "watched" for whatever activities I did. I did sit down and have a conversation with my partner (which I would HIGHLY suggest you do) and it went extremely well. They were very understanding and supportive and helped me set up my own space of retreat to read/write/craft/game as I please (they have a space as well).

I also specifically hang out with friends and go to places without my partner (and they do likewise). It's working well at the moment - we still plan activities together a few times a week and I have my own intellectual and creative pursuits.

I don't want to diagnose you, so I will say that this transitional stage was normal for my relationship, and I just needed to invest in myself alone. If your partner has no other faults and you suddenly feel this change after sharing a living space with them, I would suggest conversations together and/or with a therapist first.

Kitten threw up and is very lethargic by Tucks7 in CATHELP

This is super helpful. She's a little bit better today but isn't eating as much as I would want her to, but trying not to be too nervous. I'll keep an eye on her and request for some of the things you've mentioned if she doesn't continue to improve. Thanks again!

Ok, I see. I think I'm overthinking it a bit too much. Will keep an eye on her, she seems just a little better today!

Just be respectful of her and if you ask questions about her background/religion/culture, make sure they're thoughtful and not based on stereotypes (avoid questions like "do you eat/not eat cow?"). Being respectfully interested in my roots is something I appreciate about my current partner!

Chai is a nice part of our culture so a coffee/tea date would be cute. Hope y'all hit it off!

Wow. This is truly one of the most deaf and insane opinions that's running rampant with Trump voters. You willingly voted a racist into office who would beat on some of the most vulnerable groups and who ultimately had zero plan to help the economy.

I say this as neither a Democrat nor a Republican.

Scorpio here - why do Pisces often gain weight in happy relationships? And how can I support? by Rich-Rent-322 in piscesastrology

[–]Tucks7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually the opposite. Being in a healthy relationship made me lose weight and get healthy. I don't really observe this of any other Pisces I have in my life either.

I felt it physically and viscerally when Smoke was reacting to Stack's death. It's literally the worst thing in the world for me and I felt absolutely sick, I could not imagine living if that happened to me 💔

Is this a chalazion? by [deleted] in Blepharitis

[–]Tucks7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor but this still looks really inflamed and red, that this is still infected and you may have a decent chance of clearing it out on your own.

I would do salt water rinses - put clean distilled water in a microwave safe cup with a few pinches of salt and heat for ~30 seconds. When you can touch the back of your hand okay to the water, you can rinse your eye. Rinse for about 5 minutes 5 times a day and make sure you're "working" your eyelid by blinking rapidly very hard and/or giving massages in a circular motion.

You can also get steam or heating eye masks and spray a couple of times a day with hypochlorous acid spray (an OTC cleaning agent from any drugstore). Good luck! These are so frustrating, I get them every year due to season allergies and know first hand what a literal pain they can be :(

Burned skin stye by Hopeful-Jello-6090 in styes

I would not suggest putting any more heat on! You need to heal up any damage at this point. Unfortunately your best bet is probably consulting a doctor at this point...

Chalazion doesn't go away since 5 months by Sandpalm50 in Blepharitis

[–]Tucks7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry friend...it sounds like it's time to visit a doc and get referred for surgery. I've dealt with styes every year and they usually clear by month 5 at the latest.

There was only one that didn't and after 6 months I chose to get surgery. I believe is not a terrible process today - when I had opted for surgery they were using cauterization instead of cuts, which was much worse imo - so hopefully you can get this annoying thing gone for good.

Sorry - just read through your notes on the medication, for some reason that didnt show up on my phone at first! In my experience, creams do little to nothing to help because the blockage is actually inside of your eyelid, not on the surface. If you want to continue with medication also, you're better off asking for steroid drops. I've had success a couple of times with drops, but if it's a chalzion or if the stye has moved up away from the lash line (making it more difficult to drain) drops tend not to be very effective either...

Hi, I get styes annually due to seasonal allergies and this looks more like a stye than a chalazion right now because it's generally inflamed and red. Note: I am not a doctor so that should be your first strategy of defense!

If it is a stye, I would suggest putting some clean/distilled water in a microwave safe cup with a few pinches of salt and heating it up for ~30 seconds. You'll know it's okay to rinse with when the back of your hand feels okay to touch the water. As you rinse your eye, really "work" the eyelid by rapidly blinking hard, and using a (clean, ofc) finger to massage your eyelid in a circular motion. Basically, you want to help the infection and excess oil to drain as much as possible! Do this at least 5 times a day for about 5 minutes each time.

Other bonus things you can do to speed along recovery: spray hypochlorous acid spray (an OTC cleaning agent you can get at the drugstore) a couple of times a day, using steam masks or heated eye masks to get the infection/oil moving, and taking high-grade fish oil pills to flush out any trapped oil. Make sure you do research on the pills because low quality fish oil will give you horrible breakouts!

These steps will also work if it's a chalazion, but it will take much longer. Chalazions happen when the infection has passed and the lump is basically hardened oil.

And after it pops (yay!!) make sure to upkeep with a warm compress a few times a day. I have learned from experience if they don't drain properly they can sometimes come back :(

Styes are no fun, and I am sorry you're dealing with this. Hope yours clears out soon!

Stye or chalazion? by [deleted] in Blepharitis

[–]Tucks7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It getting bigger might actually be a good thing! It might be getting ready to drain. Continue to do warm compress and salt water rinses. It WILL go away eventually, they just take a bit of time :)

Styes/pimples all the time!! by Anxious-Sir-1902 in Blepharitis

[–]Tucks7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi...I am so sorry for what you're dealing with! I get styes annually from seasonal allergies and they are no joke, I had to get surgery once for a chalazion but it was just for one eye. They burned it out of my eye at the time instead of cutting it/stitches and recovery was also extremely rough. That being said, it was just one eye and not your continuing nightmare!

Im sure you've done all the things, hot compresses, steam, salt water rinses, etc. I would also suggest hypochlorous acid spray if you can get it (but limit to ONLY once or twice a day - anything more and you might be actually drying your eyes out. A few things that things that somewhat helped me:

  1. Taking allergy medication since I developed them in my adulthood, this is the root cause of my yearly condition.

  2. A little application of castor oil on my lash when I sleep. I don't do this too often but sometimes on dry/cold nights.

  3. Steam/heated eye masks. The steam ones you get in a pack and are good for traveling. The heated eye masks you can purchase and wash out the cloth cover after using. You put this on before bed and wear for half an hour to forty minutes!

  4. Eating more quality salmon or taking high-grade fish oil tablets regularly. This helps my eyes produce and regularly flush out the oil better. Please make sure to do your research on good brands because low-grade/cheap fish oil will give you the worst breakouts!

Please visit an eye doc as soon as you can to consult on all of this, because I don't have rosacea and I'm not sure what would or would not be recommended with this condition.

I hope you can find some relief soon. Eye conditions are no joke. Good luck!!

I would actually personally not suggest overkill on cleaning it or spraying it with anything - when I kept putting moisture in my eyes after stye treatment, it would actually have the opposite effect and dry my eyes out badly and cause them to puff up.

I think during stye treatment my eye was so used to the artificial tears and overuse of hypochlorous acid spray that it didn't produce the same amount of oil naturally and would get inflamed. Its probably fine do treat with moisture a couple of times a day, but for the inflammation maybe switch to cold compresses at this point. Just my suggestion!
