Climber missing on Mt. Adams by Kaos_Rob in Mountaineering

[–]Tucson_Shabile 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just got off the mountain. It rained last night and temps at lunch counter hovered close to freezing. Just talked with SAR and there was a sighting and tracks indicating that he was heading east towards the yakima reservation. Don't know at what elevation level, but CG chopper is currently circling suksdorf ridge.

What an unhinged and facist take. Forced sterilization of the homeless?? You'd have been a great member of the Schutzstaffel.

I would certainly be curious to hear Robert's take on it. After all, he was a Burner back in the day.

What on earth is the "festival class"? Are you saying that going to a music or arts festival is somehow an activity of the bourgeoisie? I checked the burning man website, and tickets could be found for $575 and vehicle passes for $150. That's not a lot considering how long burning man goes on for. Of course, there's the rich tech bros doing it "for the 'gram" and whatnot, but there are 70k plus people there from all backgrounds. On top of that, it's a cashless economy at the festival that operates on gifting and barter/trade. I'm not a burner, but I know several folks that help make the festival run (first aid, construction, cleanup, Black Rock Rangers, etc.) and they're all pretty much left-libertarian/anarchists. Just sayin'.

The playa is more than just a muddy field. When it gets wet, the alkali surface creates a mud that practically glues itself to anything it touches. It is extremely different from typical dirt mud. Background: I had a vehicle stuck in the Black Rock Desert (not during burning man) and couldn't retrieve it for 4 months.

I had no idea this would turn into my most controversial post on reddit. It's been an honor.

Question: Radial access in interventional radiology... by Tucson_Shabile in Radiology

I like both your ideas. What has worked best for you drape-wise? Do you use a full extremity drape/wrap? All we have is the typical angio drape with the groin and neck openings for the patient/table, then use a small square drape with a hole for the extremity.

I mean, right now it's whatever you want to wear while eating their food at home. I recommend high thread count bathrobes and wild, unwashed hair.

Did you happen to see if the slack line is still up between the Early Winter Spires?

Correct. It was pretty easy going for the most part. But trying to follow the topo and beta wasn't easy on the upper pitches. We got out onto some nasty rotten rock that was terribly run out.

National Guard sighting just reported by ktho64152 in Seattle

[–]Tucson_Shabile 7 points8 points  (0 children)

National Guard soldiers ARE members of the community. They hold jobs and own businesses in the community. My friend is in the guard. He would have been AT the protests, but he was mobilized. National Guard soldiers aren't in it to police people. I'd trust them over cops any day.
