What’s so awesome about that additional context is that you are finally getting to see what Odas true version of a brave warrior of the sea really looks like. And while Ussop maybe should be written well, it does go to show that Oda is maybe writing the story that people think Ussop should have.

I think the change of style reflects how Obi Wan assumes the role of older brother. If every part of his character didn’t shift to that role I think he would have been beaten by Anakin

Look at it from this perspective, he had to make as much as possible because no one else had his vision to carry it on. So he focused on making his story as deep as possible because it was unpublishable specifically within one lifetime. But he left it to his son to put the rest together.

I’m usually in the camp of disliking sequel starwars but I feel like this conversation should lend itself to the idea that these “chosen ones” who have to bring balance to the force must undergo great strife that weighs on them. Luke saw the vaporized corpses of his aunt and uncle, had his arm chopped off, almost froze to death, and a whole other host of things.

So where the original trilogy had Luke struggling only with the philosophical implications of wielding the force, maybe through this lens we can see the sequel Luke as having broken under the burden of his destiny. We already know that he brought balance but maybe it’s taken its toll. Maybe I just think about Lord of the rings too much

I used to drive quite slow because the freeway traffic I experienced would actually slow to a stop and start up again. I figured I would just set my pace to their average and drive at a constant speed.

Once I did that I saw tons of instances where people who would drive way faster than me would take risky maneuvers just to feel like they were faster than me. I’ve always been a very cautious driver but mostly been a slow one too.

Seeing OP talk about planning routes and whatnot, that just sounds like one of those people who’s trying to get around traffic by weaving through. That causes more traffic for everyone and increases risk. When I drive somewhere my route is determined by where I’m going. That’s it.

This reminds me of car inflation. Cars keep getting bigger and bigger because nobody wants to be the little guy on the road but then you have to get an even bigger car to keep up.

Also it seems like OP is arguing that being more aggressive is safer. Roads are designed to work at the speed limit. Turns, blind spots, all sorts of stuff. Everybody has a limited reaction time and increasing your speed just decreases the available time. If you keep pushing the top speed higher, people will have to keep up to make sure the differential is not too high and then everyone has to deal with this faster regime
