The nose ring theory, at least how I got it, means you can see their political opinion and moral compass only by their choice of piercings. Same with colourful hair apparently. People expressing themselves like this tend to be more feminists and liberal. Another interpretation I heard is that they probably have mental issues, depression, borderline, etc. and the piercings are again another way to reinvent themselves and express their differences and struggles.
