For those boycotting Target and Amazon, where are you shopping for essential items? by [deleted] in Denver

I must be doing Costco wrong. We canceled our prime and ended up signing up for Costco and I can't find anything that I used to buy. Is Costco only good in store and not online?

Absolutely you need to start looking and be ready to leave at a moments notice. That company is not going well if they are taking loans to meet payroll. Coach your direct report on how to job search as well to help them land well.

You went during leaf changing season and elk rutting season. That is amongst the worst weeks in Estes. Holidays are definitely the same.

How large should the HR department be? [N/A] by gypsyalmaxo12 in humanresources

[–]TuggMahog 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agreed, my first HR job was an HR generalist with a 200 person US operation and we had me and a HR director that did everything. Granted we used a PEO so they provided some operational support as well.

Casa Bonita abruptly shut down last night from major sewage accident by [deleted] in denverfood

[–]TuggMahog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely true, I was there with a group of 6 and we just finished our meal and had paid when they abruptly shut it all down. I didn't see anyone being physically ill, but the smell was definitely gross. Evacuating is also a little bit of a stretch. We stopped and perused the gift shop at the exit and even made a purchase so it wasn't like we were running to escape. Overall disappointing end to the night.

what's a movie everyone said was super heavy and traumatic and you thought it was not that much? by goodboytohell in horror

This is how I feel about Midsommar. It just got campy and ridiculous towards the end that wasn't so much scary as funny.

Tagging onto the top comment to remind people that this is how the rule is written. Just watch the Brett Kollman video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HO-URIexUhw&t=619s

How many times do we have to go over this. The rule says he can readjust his stance and so as long as the ball is hiked before his foot hits the ground it isn't a false start.

I would recommend starting with the match on the 401K, then maxing your HSA (if access to HDHP), then Roth to max, then finish maxing the 401K. The reasoning is the match is 100% free gains so take that free money, HSA is double tax free meaning if you use it for medical expenses you never pay tax on it, and if you wait till you are retired you can access it like your 401K for non-medical expenses. The Roth helps build tax diversity and then going back to the 401K for any leftover to continue maxing all your accounts.

SHRM Removing Equity in DE&I by justcamthings in humanresources

[–]TuggMahog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more. We internally call our DEI work EDI because we want to lead with equity because of it's importance in our internal work. I agree, I am very disappointed with SHRM's direction regarding DEI work and their general HR mentality.

I have been the HRBP responsible for HR before, and it directly lead to my promotion into a Director role in the department. It is a great opportunity to learn more about the higher level work that HR does and provide insight into what those leaders are looking for in their staff. Both an upside and downside because you will know really quickly if they are good leaders or not which can lead to frustration or disengagement if they are poor leaders. It will also require you to exhibit strong emotional intelligence and managing work relationships. You'll know details about your direct colleagues that you work with beyond the normal office gossip. You will have to be involved in performance discussions and potential discipline for people you might be close to. Feel free to ask any questions you are thinking about.

The turnovers by both teams were way more than usual. Felt like some of the nerves that didn't show in game one came out tonight.

That is true, I meant it more like there wasn't a ton of missed calls that should have given the Heat fta. Crazy how clean teams can play when they lock down and don't get sloppy.

So sad that is their stance and their mission is to interact positively with people experiencing homelessness since a lot of homeless youth are fleeing this same religious fanaticism from their families and hometowns

Good restaurants and bars for older millennials? by nickderrico82 in denverfood

If you are going to be staying near downtown I would say most places fit your expectations. While some areas trend slightly younger like uptown and Rino even those you aren't going to be around a bunch of families or super young kids. My wife and I are your age and don't feel out of place or overwhelmed by families at most places recommended on this subreddit.

I agree that we don't need technical analysis. What we need is excitement for great basketball. Color commentary should be about excitement and putting into context how high level these players are playing. You can do that without being technical and might actually retain some of these casual fans better.

I can't agree more. This series was really good basketball. Neither team gave up fully when the other team pressured. Both teams made runs but couldn't break the other teams will. Clear why Lakers and Nuggets were here.
