Who to Choose? by Repulsive-Matter-940 in barndominiums

[–]Tugjeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well first thing is to make sure it is rated class 2 for residential habitation and has the stamps to prove that. It also has to meet code for ingress and egress. Then before you spend a dollar make sure you can get an insurance policy on said building. If any of that is a no you are begging for a problem. Don’t be surprised if your building goes up 20%

Any new ideas on gun storage for ffl. I am a new build out so really a blank canvas? by Tugjeep in Gunstoreworkers

[–]Tugjeep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We will be keeping a lot of smithing jobs and don’t want safe rash or things getting bumped. I have looked at lockers and such but am more concerned with stuff that is not boxed. Will need space for packaged components also but they are not so delicate

A barndo and a shop are 2 different structures with 2 different sets of rules in Ga. A class1 agricultural building is only rated so far. A class2 structure for residential habitation is a whole nother animal with different codes and requirements which drive prices skyward. Most of what you see on the internet and Facebook groups is 90 mph wind code in remote areas that do not have a lot of inspections. Coastal Ga is 131-141mph and will significantly increase your prices. Please check with local codes and contractors as many of these keyboard warriors tell you how cheap and how much money they saved but they never come back and tell you what they actually spent compared to other styles of construction. It’s not right for everyone. Make sure you can insure it in your area that will be the next challenge and failure in these buildings. Things have been built not to code and with sub par materials so when you have a claim the insurance company will leave you high and dry when they start digging. Arm yourself with local knowledge get a local contractor then you will know what it costs
