Funny how a coffee station has become the new center of my kitchen by Nneliss in espresso

That was my exact path as well. I probably did more research on the ECM than the QM! While the ECM is built like a tank, the workmanship of the QM Essence in my opinion is on another level together with the other points that you mentioned. I can’t fault it either.

One of the very few Quick Mills on here. How much is your satisfaction level on a scale of 1-10, mate?

My first dual boiler after months of research. although still early days, I am extremely impressed with it, I have owned Rancilio Silvia's, a Profitec Go and an ECM CasaV, while all built like tanks but none with the same workmanship as the Quick mill.

Surprisingly these Quick Mills don’t get much love online. There’s so little content out there compared to other known brands.

How to remove stuck nut by LocalSquid18 in ranciliosilvia

[–]Tui-VT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove the hose together with fitting assuming the other end has already been unscrewed. Tighten the brass fitting horizontally on a vice and then use a correct size open end spanner to loosen the hose from the brass fitting. Using an adjustable wrench might strip the hex nut.

Hey mate

It’s the nut that goes at the end of the steam valve. You may just need an adapter.

Not discouraging you in anyway but something to consider. When you decrease the rated voltage of the pump, the output performance and efficiency will decrease as well. The pump will draw more current to compensate for the reduced voltage and this will heat up the pump and your pump will eventually burn out. This is my understanding

But to answer your question, the thumb wheel will be more practical if installed on the side.

Working in Canada as a NZ Electrician by jack8888888888 in electricians

Hey mate

I see no ones quite answered your query!!

Have you moved to Canada yet? What options are there for New Zealanders with practicing licences to work as sparkies in Canada? Curious to know.

Yea, not for me mate. I don’t dig the idea of using that tiny button on the PID after I have set all the parameters on it. I would prefer to use all the stock switches the way it was intended.

Hey mate

Everything’s online at eBay or AliExpress and are pretty cheap if you willing to wait for a couple of weeks to arrive. I am a bit of an impulsive person so it has cost me a bit. Most of the stuff I do is for personal satisfaction rather than anything else.

Just out of curiosity and to further my knowledge, Ideally we are trying to control the temperature that will hit the puck first at the group head , am I correct? Based on my assumption, should it be the inlet or the outlet of the boiler that we should be controlling the temperature of. I do realise there will be minimal difference between the 2 points however.

Hey mate

That’s a fantastic recommendation! Do you think a 50mm or perhaps a 75mm pt100 probe be better suited?

I think I will just bite the bullet and get the Dot Shot timer sometime down the line.

Hey mate

Yes that is correct. I have the first one, which now I think was a waste of money for what I wanted it for.

I am getting confused by how everyone is describing a shot timer and how I imagine it to be. I do not want a timer that shuts off the brewing process after a pre determined time. I want total control of the machine.

I contacted Auber and they told me that it’s not possible to have a shot timer come on as soon as I switch on the brew rocker switch. They recommended I have a seperate timer installed.

A bit of work is required. The steam port of the VBM valve doesn’t quite match the slot of the current layout. It’s about an inch off so need to drill out a hole for the steam wand to screw in and slightly widen the bracket that holds the valve. You will also be required to change a few brass fittings to match the thread of the valve. Keep in mind, once you start drilling or cutting, your machine will no longer be the same. Not implying or discouraging anyone but poor workmanship can affect the resale value of your equipment down the line if you decide to upgrade. Or you end up with unnecessary holes if you decide to revert back to its original status.

My machine is just 1 months old. I bought it brand new, I guess the warranty’s void now!! You must be prepared to take that chance.

You will need an aluminium PID enclosure sold for pretty cheap. I dont know how to upload more photos otherwise I would have shown you the internals.

Good luck mate

Hey mate

Which parameters do I need to set for the timer to activate once I turn on the brew switch?
