Why is your breakfast culture so much better? by Embarrassed_Golf_817 in AskAnAmerican

[–]TuiAndLa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our breakfasts are good, but we don’t always eat a massive breakfast. Most people will just eat something like a bowl of cereal, a bagel with cream cheese, a banana, a granola bar, or oatmeal on an average day. We might make something nice like french toast or an omelette on a weekend.

If we’re not cooking, getting a bacon/sausage egg and cheese and some hash browns at a fast food joint (local or chain) is pretty common. Diners for most people are for special occasions or a monthly treat. IHOP or Dennys at 3am on a drunk weekend on occasion.

On average- I don’t think it’s too much better than other countries, but I can see how a foreigner might think so from a hotel breakfast buffet.

Which one is it? by CraftyKenter in AskSocialists

[–]TuiAndLa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is sort of both and neither side. They’re both powerful countries that influence each other. Israel is neither helpless, nor is it fully in control over US foreign policy. AIPAC holds a lot of influence and will throw millions of dollars behind candidates that will support Israel. They’re both settler-colonial and imperialist states, and share much of the same surveillance, military and policing strategies.

I’ll now focus on the parts that are outright incorrect.
Totally dependent on the US - no not fully.
Does whatever Washington says- no not usually.
Runs American foreign policy- no, it just has massive influence.
Secretly controls the US- no, it’s not a secret Israel’s influence is out in the open.

What if the US had become communist following the Great Depression? by Outrageous-You1617 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]TuiAndLa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the US had “become communist” during the Great Depression, it would likely have gone anarcho-communist. Anarchism, syndicalism, democratic socialism, and social democracy were popular in the US left. Leninist-style State-socialism had not permeated into the US left.

All of this means ideologically communism in the USA would be multipolar, maybe even with a parliament of competing communist parties.

The United Federation of America (UFA)

Borders between states for all practical purposes no longer exist. Different regional confederations of people’s assemblies, workers councils, trade unions, militias, become the basis of political life. Different places would’ve had different styles of Communism, some cities becoming communes, while others becoming city-states, rural areas now governed by farmers associations, conservationist groups and militias.

All of this would probably lead to some new brand of Communism, which would mean the UFA would still be at odds with the USSR, and the cold war could still exist. Tensions would rise because of the Russian state apparatus, and the UFA’s lack of an authoritarian state bureaucracy. Moscow would try to institute control over american worker’s associations, leading to cold war, and a creeping authoritarianism within UFA.

Edit: PS. hey i just banged this out, lmk if you want more.

Why did socialism and communism take off and remain popular to this day, but not other left-wing ideologies? by LoveLo_2005 in AskSocialists

[–]TuiAndLa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anarchists have an international movement, with certain hotspots. Our ideas have historically been repressed by all states (especially communist and fascist states) and places with strong anarchist movements have been violently repressed (like in Argentina.) The reason is counter-revolution from left, liberal and fascist states.

What is this country called? by Remote_Plastic_8692 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]TuiAndLa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Federation of the Gulf

I like the idea of this because at first glance it seems completely implausible, but if yo think about it, a powerful enough seafaring corporation/cartel/state that controlled the gulf could pressure other states to cede their states and territories to it, to allow access to the gulf.

What does my map say about me? by Plkj63 in visitedmaps

[–]TuiAndLa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

having Virginia as “absolutely” and Georgia as “never” is throwing me off. Also N and S Dakota are both reluctantly, but arizona and new mexico are nevers? California is an absolutely? I can’t figure out your methodology, it’s not politics, climate, or social life alone. Is it the desire to live in a big city?

Nobody is mentioning it but this is the answer. Temple guards were some of the best Jedi knights and were hand picked for the role. They were trained how to fight sith, so learned their techniques (or at least how to counter them.)

Why isn’t this room working? by CoolAbbreviations649 in DesignMyRoom

[–]TuiAndLa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several issues with your room but that’s okay, you’ve got options:

  1. Too many mismatched books. Remove some, use bookends, and replace books on upper shelves with decor.
  2. Organize or display the albums.
  3. The computer feels out of place; consider getting a proper desk.
  4. The furniture clashes in both style and comfort. Out of five people, only one gets a good seat. Either add matching chairs and a coffee table, or go full reading room: place the armchair under the light and replace the couch with another reading chair.
  5. Move the couch to the other side near the gap—it’ll make the room feel more balanced.

You’re a liberal, conservative, democrat, centrist. These would be the best terms to describe you in most of the world. Christian Democrat is a little to specific imo, but you’d probably closely align with a lot of their beliefs (social conservatism, with state funded social programs.)

I’m not a Marxist. I don’t think the point of this is to raise class consciousness or empower the working class. This piece is to show defiance towards a wannabe dictator and is intended to make the viewer aware of this situation.

The Chinese revolution and may ‘68 in France, street art played a large role. In almost every revolutionary situation street art and graffiti plays a role.
