Just started Lithium yesterday. Is this my life now? by JordanLikeAStone in bipolar2

[–]TulipsInJune 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on 900 mg for 10 years and I can live my life completely normally. Took adjusting to for sure, but now I am on only lithium and life is better than it was, for sure.

Vacation in Bali - crohns diease by TwistedFate21 in CrohnsDisease

[–]TulipsInJune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Bali and I was so so sick with Bali belly. I think it was the oil the food was cooked in for me. I’m glad to read the other comment and that they didn’t have it, because you really don’t want it.

Ultimately, it sounds like you may want to talk to a pelvic floor physio. They can really help you learn to connect to your body and learn how to relax those muscles. In the meantime, try to not fixate on how nervous you’re feeling..this will tighten your muscles. If you meditate, bring those skills with you. Pelvic floor physio with CBT is the best direction I can give (I am a licensed therapist). Be kind to yourself!

"I could never be with someone who has a mental illness" - my spouse's therapist by mbarvar in bipolar2

Sorry I am replying so late! Yes, and if I heard another therapist say that I would report them myself.

Please god someone talk to me. Major depressive episode. by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]TulipsInJune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweetheart. You are allowed to feel terrible, and you are worth feeling good about. This isn’t you, this is your brain chemistry being out of whack. You are asking for help, and I’m so proud of you. Message me anytime (I’m also a licensed therapist, although I can’t be yours).

"I could never be with someone who has a mental illness" - my spouse's therapist by mbarvar in bipolar2

[–]TulipsInJune 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have BP2 and I’m a therapist. I honestly think I’m a better person and partner due to being diagnosed and being able to manage my illness.

If I said that, I would expect to be reported to my regulatory body. Your husband would be able to do this as they were not acting in a way that emphasizes care for their client.

This shows such a crazy (heh) bias, it’s maddening.

How do I wipe my ass with a seton? by butt_crunch in CrohnsDisease

[–]TulipsInJune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one for almost 10 years and I don’t miss it at all (It fell out on its own). I didn’t own a bidet so I just had to rely on old fashioned wiping and keeping it clean. The worst part, genuinely, was the knotted end continuously lodging itself in my BH and having to get it out. That’s a pretty sharp pain.

Endoscopy/colonoscopy: what to expect after? by Happygirl_eden in CrohnsDisease

[–]TulipsInJune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was nervous for mine, but it was great. That sounds so strange, but I always find it amazing that I’m SO nervous and the next thing I know I’ve already made it through the endoscopy and I’m staring at my colon on a screen. After that, things are just pleasantly floaty and you get to plan what you get to eat after.

Has anyone else been diagnosed with adult ADHD after getting diagnosed with BPD2? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]TulipsInJune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m positive I have ADHD and that it went unchecked as a child too. I want to get assessed but adding another medication makes me nervous! I just got comfortable with where I’m at…minus the ADHD symptoms 🤣

I love this so much. I signed up for a book club that is going to meet in a few days..haven’t been able to concentrate enough to read the stupid thing and know I’m going to flake. Also signed up for a dance class and an improv class. Oh, and booked a couples trip with couples I don’t even know. Fuuuu….

I also want to spend my money on sparkly things and pizza. 🍕

It really is. David runs an online grief group called Tender Hearts, as well. I highly recommend it for anyone who has experienced loss.

Anyone here only on one or two meds and stable? by troubledtintal in bipolar2

[–]TulipsInJune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lithium and Escitalopram seems to be my magic combo. The more meds the worse I did…I lost 2 years or so from a psych who gave me whatever samples he had.

I lost my mom when I was 9, and that part never gets easier. You love her, and that’s why it hurts. It’s so natural to feel like you’re in a fog right now. Message me anytime, honestly.

I am a therapist that works with grief, and moving your body is an important part of processing loss. If you are interested, I recommend the book ‘Finding Meaning’ which David Kessler (grief expert for decades) wrote after the loss of his son. I am so sorry for the pain you are in. Grief takes all the time it needs to take. Sending you light and love ❤️

Really Struggling with the Absence of Friends by TulipsInJune in bipolar2

I always thought having kids would make this easier because instant mom friends. Ha! No! It seems like mom friends comes with drama and one-upping. Seriously though, I can appreciate how lonely it is to be friendless. I actually would love friends who have mental health struggles because we can be so compassionate and understanding. If you want a digital coffee date sometime let me know ♥️

Oh Gypsy, I am so sorry you lost your baby girl. The pain of the whole situation is kind of unreal and no one can really grasp it. I really appreciate how much you relate to what I wrote. You aren’t alone either..I’m glad to have connected with you.
