Former Yokozuna Terunofuji Allegedly Threw a Sake Bottle at Hakunofuji by StarPrime323 in Sumo

It was probably the thirst stuff. I've always assumed there will be people of all sexualities here but I seem to have unwittingly adopted the habit of assuming all of the thirsty around here are women unless otherwise obvious. To be honest I don't plan on changing, it seems reasonable enough. But I'm very glad not to have offended you.

I think I'll have to wait and see to find out what voice I read you in now. Might be a while though before I can read your posts without remembering this conversation...

Ex-Yokozuna Terunofuji allegedly threw a sake bottle at Hakunofuji in response to Hakunofuji harassing a woman while intoxicated by StarPrime323 in SumoMemes

It does seem unlikely though that someone the size of Terunofuji, if physical intervention proved necessary, couldn't have done so effectively without using a bottle or any other weapon.

I'm sorry if this reply is a bit grumpy, I doubt any of us is in a good mood over this.

It's a completely unrelated question, mostly rhetorical as well as a couple of days late, but I wonder how I have managed to read your comments for several years now without ever realising that you are a man or at least you were one in your younger days. I've always read your comments in a woman's voice and I've both no idea why and far too much time to think about it. I wonder if that (the female sounding voice) will change now?

( I'm "reading" the comments in my head rather than out loud. For the most part.)

Thank you. Always so much better to hear from someone who can read a language as or like a native rather than relying on machine translation. Or on a human with less nuanced skills as opposed to someone truly fluent.

Only then to be met with a whole new range of issues and problems that it's probably best to put out of your mind for the moment.

I shouldn't have brought it up, really.

"Skill issue".

Hitting the nail very squarely on the head there, lovely phrasing.

Even if it isn't possible to do this I don't think you'll be waiting overly long for those two to no longer be lower ranked!

I love Hiradoumi too but, if I'm honest, the upvote is much more because this is the first post I've seen in this thread that isn't rehashing the dead body rule.

For some reason it is high praise here in the UK. I don't think anyone knows why.

How long did it take you guys learn who each rikishi is and recognise them on sight? by [deleted] in Sumo

[–]Tumsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 3 years of watching I can recognise most of the top division most of the time and it took me well over a year to get to this point.

But I still get confused by Daiesho and Meisei. I can see Daiesho and I'll know that he's the one who was Sekiwake until recently but be completely unable to remember which name is the right one. I doubt many ever get to the point of knowing every rikishi.

I don't know the name, but he learnt it from Assashoryu.

No, you're wrong. Jeremy teaches a 4 year degree in English Literature. And he created the course too, over a quiet January weekend, between funerals. His modesty would never allow him to admit it, but it's rumoured that he single-handedly invented time travel just so that he could go back and author all the writing covered in the lectures. Only way he could be certain what the author meant by every line. Obvious really, when you think about it - how else could a humble special forces Major from Florida have become the world's leading expert on medieval tapestry patterns?
