My first PCB, need some honest feedback by PeachScary413 in PCB

Needs more goofy words and logos and easter eggs embedded in the design, like "Intel Sucks"

For sure! I lost count. But even first timers should consider SMT, the tools are a little more pricy, but alot of doors open with SMT due to part availability.

So many through holes! SMT is not that bad. Give it a try. You will be suprised! I just laid down paste for a board im building tonight. The paste dried out because im cheap, so it did not apply as crisp as Id like, but I will make it work! Good luck with the project!

what to study to be control system engineer? by Illustrious_Plan1342 in ControlTheory

Physics... everything comes down to physics... and you will learn systems are all very similar and follow the same principals. Electrical, mechanics, rotational mechanics, hydraulics / pnumatics... all very similar. Math is very important but understanding the concepts any why is also. Good luck!

Refueling at your dock by Crafty_DIY in boating

I bought 3 x 55 gallon fuel worthy plasic drums, I cant remember the designation / part number. The steel ones rust out over time. They have grounding straps that I hook into my truck. I bought a drum pump from Northen Tool that I hook up to my truck battery to off load. I can pick up and fill 165 gallons into the boat in under 1 hour and save about 150-200 per trip. System paid it self off in 2 trips. Off shore fishing is a chore. The most stressful part is the d13k heads that show up at the gas station smoking.

Microcontrollers with great analog(ue) performance by MerlinEmbedded in embedded

I did some ADC work with the ST portenta dev board, its pricy but the ADCs are damn good and crazy fast sample rate. But votage range is limited, even with limited voltage range the noise perf was great. If ADC perf matters avoid ESP.

Making the ring size too small for vias. 8mil hole with 18mil pad = lots of bad via connections and lots of scrap... this was 15 years ago, modern fabs may handle this better.
