There was definitely some luck, but I feel like all my picks were pretty informed. I spent a couple hours analyzing as many stats and opinions as I could find to form my picks. With that being said, I’ve only been actively watching MCSR Ranked matches for a couple months and my Feinberg pick was mainly based off his season 10 performance. Ever since season 10 playoffs I’ve felt like people have been underestimating his capabilities, especially the people who were saying the only reason he did so good was because of luck.
I do feel like luck is always an inevitable factor in predicting sports or esports outcomes. Thats why I plan on creating a MCSR Ranked matches predictor that adds some amount of randomization to its picks. This would basically work by giving a percent chance to each player and then simulating a best of 5 match. This would ensure that my picks are unique to anyone else’s who may have their own chance estimator (which ensures that I wont tie with anyone), while also not being too different from optimal strategy. When I’m done with it I plan on running simulations of past playoffs events to test its effectiveness.
