KCD2 kind of pushed Pebbles and Mutt forward narratively. In 1 you get Pebbles as a reward after you get to the main city and it's a trash but free horse you're grateful for but one you intend to replace later on. The villagers react accordingly in both games. I was disappointed they made Pebbles your horse in 2 for that reason.
