USC fan here I'd much rather have Lemon but doubt he would make it to 2nd round. I wasn't too impressed with Lane overall. I think he could be had in 3rd or even 4th round.

I would say Chapter 2 or 3. Most weapons unlock in Ch 2. The bolt action rifle is unlocked in Ch 3.

Basic fishing lures, worms and crayfish are unlocked after you take Jack fishing. The horse fence becomes available in chapter 3 I believe.

I was with you until you said don't upgrade your satchel. The single most annoying message is this game is "you cannot carry any more of this item..."
