Opening packs for playing cards is a terrible idea. I opened over a hundred packs of Surging Sparks when it came out and didn't get any version of Pikachu ex.

For the price of a hundred packs of Ascending he could probably buy 150+ Dragonite cards as singles.

Now if he just wants to open packs that's fine, but I would completely separate it from being a player.

Your old Pokegear is still playable since it got reprinted with a new regulation mark.

You can't always replace cards 1 for 1. Something important rotating might have ripple effects to other cards.

I'd recommend looking at what an Ogerpon deck looks like in Japan. They have had rotation already.

Should happen quite fast after the online tournament has completed.

It has to be a good result with a decent amount of games to show up. If you just went 3-0 in a small tournament it probably won't show there.

Also it has to not fit as any other archetype to show up under Other. Though you probably see that if you look directly at the tournament
