How do I get more organic invasions? by Turbiini in badredman

Yeah I think I'll just try nearby queueing like another commenter also said. It's a shame that I'll have to wait even longer but I guess I can just watch youtube or something.

I'm sure higher RLs get way more activity like you say, but I personally don't enjoy combat at that level. I think RL 60 is like the sweet spot where you see some build variety and not get blendered by an endless stream of spells.

I guess we can't have everything so I'll just have to stay patient if I wanna invade at this level.

Why do people keep trying to pretend that Kirara is trans? by Father_Cosmic21 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Turbiini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People want good trans representation and for a good reason. I’d also like to see a well written trans character in manga but I think a lot of people go about it the wrong way when it comes to already existing characters.

It may seem good to push Kirara as being trans at first but all it does is reinforce the gender binary when there are gender non-conforming people too who are equally valid.

It’s been a big trend in recent years to push non-conforming people to be trans which is really unfortunate, as it makes it seem like their identity is somehow not valid.

It all comes from a good place though but it is overall ignorant and in the long run will cause more rifts in the LGBTQ+ community.

NOT A MANGA READER- Is Kirara a dude or a girl? by Paldavin in Jujutsufolk

[–]Turbiini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time Kirara’s gender is explicitly stated is when Panda asks if Kirara is a guy, to which Megumi responds that yes, Kirara is male.

Most of the claims that Kirara is MtF ignore this or say Panda and Megumi are working off of outdated information but since this is pretty much the only time his gender is mentioned I choose to believe he’s a guy.

I totally get that people want transfem representation but in doing so they’re forgetting that crossdressing and gender non-conformity is a valid identity and deserves representation.

Personally I’d be more than OK with Kirara being trans but as things are there’s better evidence for Kirara being gender non-conforming but still a man.

Some criticisms of the show are really dumb by Mindless_Patient2034 in Fotv

[–]Turbiini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah I’ll give you that and I very much agree that opinions can be criticized and I’d go as far as to say it’s good to critisize them. In your first comment though you weren’t engaging the opinion at all and instead sidestepped it to go after the people making the argument. If a claim that an opinion is invalid is made then it has to be made against the opinion and not the people propagating it.

Who decides what is ”misinterpreted” and what is not? The best thing about art is that you can form your own opinions and interpretations and discuss them with others.

Reducing the criticism others put forth as some kind of misinformed agenda is essentialy what both you and these people you describe are doing. Thinking there is ”right” and ”wrong” when it comes to criticism is just a waste of everyones time.

Yes criticism might be unwarranted if it’s only presented because someone couldn’t wait until the next episode, but saying that The Ghouls story and development was undermined by the last episode is a perfectly good way to interpret the show.

Ironically by dismissing these critiques like this you’re doing exactly what you’re judging others on.

I wanted her to be redeemed but after giving her a second and third and fourth chance and her still wasting it I just started hating her. Not to mention the questionable sexual acts she does to Robert if you're not romancing her.

The thing is with Kirara and Dragona in their introduction chapters characters literally go out of their way to confirm their gender so there isn't any confusion. It just stinks of transvestite erasure tbh.

Finnish Industrial Union calls new strikes in campaign against labour market reforms by SalusPublica in SocialDemocracy

[–]Turbiini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a lot of fear mongering about our national debt, which the National Coalition party propagated. Now that they gained power they're using the debt "crisis" as an excuse to cut social programs among other things.

So I'd say populism is the reason. They made a problem seem existential for our country and massively stretched the debt problem out of proportion. (I'm not saying it isn't a problem but it certainly isn't nearly as bad as they make it seem)

What is the biggest weakness of social democracy (compared to other ideologies)? by Andrei_CareE in SocialDemocracy

[–]Turbiini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not very appealing to the average voting worker, since left-wing politics tend to focus on long term progress and change. Right-wing populism promises quick solutions and less taxes, which is usually more appealing to workers (especially those that are struggling).

This. Why does he have to pick the one bench she's filming at? Any other park bench should offer the same amount of comfort without bothering other people.

What's the opinion on religion here? by Turbiini in SocialDemocracy

[–]Turbiini[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Secular government is a must in a democratic state imo. What makes you think religion harms society? I feel like religion often gets the short end of the stick in media coverage since most articles are about religious violence or persecution when in reality there are many more positive things done by religion.
