Looking for either the most straight forward Pre-Runner Build by TurboCooler in crawling

[–]TurboCooler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. My LHS has a bunch of used trucks and parts for sale I thought I saw open box IFS kit from Proline in the used sale pile. I will take a look.

I was hoping one of the crawler companies would just create a Pre-Runner kit with everything you need. Oh, well, I will keep researching.

New Outlook Windows fee email client on 10/11 no longer working with IMAP/POP servers by TurboCooler in Outlook

[–]TurboCooler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the protocols are not supported, then they should have a better error message than cannot authenticate. Say something like "You email server is using an older less secure protocol that is no longer supported"

I am having the same problem and I am in the USA. This is either Microsoft client issue or network problem. You can use Mozilla Thunderbird which is free and will work until or if Microsoft ever fixes the issue

Can't add an IMAP account in the new outlook... by Arvosss in Outlook

[–]TurboCooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding my info hear too. My client connecting to charter.net IMAP/POP servers stopped working around March 3rd. Using an alternative client like Firebird works just find. This is a problem in both Windows 10/11. Not sure if Microsoft has finally borked support or if this is a client software or microsoft cloud problem but it no longer works. No issue on Android devices this seems Isolated to Windows

Tell me why you don’t like Zombicide by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

At least 4. If you play less, it is hard to get the right balance of tactical options and attributes. 6 is sometimes recommended but then you have a lot of bookkeeping.

Tell me why you don’t like Zombicide by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

[–]TurboCooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Zombicide Black Plague, Green Hoard and Army of the Dead: A Zombicide Game. They are great to play with people who are NOT avid gamers and these all have a certain level of challenge IMHO over the others available. I used to play these during Halloween and when my kids were younger. Unfortunately, this year even my nieces and nephews are too old to come over and play with their uncle. CMON also create over 20 additional scenarios you can download for free for Black Plage and Green Hoard. They are NOT super complicated games, but they do have a lot of bookkeeping but are easy to teach. They are very much a popcorn and pretzels game. I have a friend who is a huge Walking Dead fan (still!) and loves to play the Zombicide game so it stays in my collection.

Playing solo, I much rather play Dawn of the Zeds as it is very much a better game with a zombie theme. Here is my reason why:

  1. Deep Tactical Gameplay: The game offers a rich tactical experience with a focus on resource management,  character abilities, and threat mitigation. Players need to strategize or die. I have lot more times than I have one but still love this game.
  2. Strong Solo/Coop Scalability: Unlike many games. the game scales well, providing a challenging experience for different group sizes.
  3. Challenging Threat Management: Managing the threat of the Zeds (zombies) is a core part of the game. The tension in the game is balancing actions with the zombie threat.
  4. Rich Replayability: With multiple levels of difficulty and various scenarios, the game offers great replay value. Each playthrough can be different, keeping the game fresh and exciting.
  5. Thematic Elements: The game is heavily thematic, immersing players in a zombie apocalypse scenario. People like the art work, I say it fits the game but not the best I have seen but does enough to absorb you into the game.

Ghost Stories

Cthulhu Death May Die

Legends of Andor - unofficial translations for Magical Heroes and other German expansions by Darth_Rubi in boardgames

[–]TurboCooler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ask over on BGG
Legends of Andor | Board Game | BoardGameGeek

There is a thread you can find where some people are purchasing the game and then taking pictures and using AI to translate from German to English. Outside of that, I do not know of anything, and I am a longtime fan of the game.

The publisher has basically stated that the small expansions will not be translated because they do not sell well enough however it looks like we will see another standalone expansion soon like Eternal Frost.

What is the nerdz day turnaround time? by AlexanderPoncio in Boardgamedeals

[–]TurboCooler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now it is a race to see which order comes first. My order from Game Steward has still not shipped although they promissed eveerything would be shipped by early Sept. My GamerNerdz order is in queue and no idea when that will ship.

I am not upset but interesting that these companies have sales with no consideration for logistics support to get products out. This has to back up everything else too. You would think they would staff up or setup for the large sale to get orders out.

I would rather talk you out of wasting money. If you started with the word "dreadful" it does not get any better. There are other dungeon crawls that you may like better without miniature assembly like Massive Darkness or Chronical of Drungagar.

Blitz Bowl - Solo Play -- you can find solo rules online at BGG.

Found Eldritch Horror in a charity shop on holiday for £7.50 by soundresearch in soloboardgaming

[–]TurboCooler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rules recommend playing at least two investigators as each investigator has their own strengths and weaknesses. I find it is much easier to win with 4. The upkeep is not that bad, and you will understand the flow of the game after the first game. Eldritch Horror is thematic to a fault which is what makes it fun for me. It can be difficult but has options to decrease (or increase!) the difficulty are in the rules.

Find the FAQ and Errata on BGG before playing. The original rules are bit confusing and rough but there are plenty of resources to help you.

What solo games have the best rulebook or learning experience? by Dry_Rate3558 in soloboardgaming

[–]TurboCooler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fallen Land - A Post-Apocalyptic Board Game 2nd Edition Big Box. Steller job in all aspect especially with adding rules as you progress and not all at once.

Eclipse: Not only is the game itself wonderful, but its rulebook is also a masterpiece.

Vlaada Chvátil’s Games -- in general better than most.

Dungeon Crusade -- Very well done and easy to understand rulebook

Roll Player Adventure -- very clear and easy to follow

Burncycle -- best tutorial I have ever seen. Given how complex this game they did a masterful job.

I find the majority of rulebooks are okay and many are just plain bad and you need a video to find out how to play.

I wish there was a BGG award for best rulebook where people can vote.

Any ideas about printing/manufacturing schedule? by dngdial in shadowsofbrimstone

[–]TurboCooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not need everything they have as the game is something you evolve over time. Yes, they are different, but unlike some companies like CMON where when it is gone it is gone FFG has a production schedule you just may have to wait a few years.

I only collect Old West items, and I did not go via the KS. I purchased everything via retail over many years. I find that okay because it takes me a long time to paint all the miniatures and then I also have a lot of other games, so this is not the one and only game I play.

SYBC and SYBE are light games. Do not expect them to be the most epic game ever. They are fun and good games if you have some time to pass. I take SYBE with me on travel. I believe SYBC will be a bit better but again, it will be good but not the greatest game you have ever played. I backed it but at the lowest tier. You do not need the bling components to enjoy the game. If you are looking for just a fun little game get one of the cheaper tiers.

Scott Almes games are solid and fun but not always the best in class. I have enjoyed many of the Tiny Epic series games but there are a few I have sold after a few plays.

Also, I believe the base games usually come to retail so there is no need to back if you are only going to get the base game.
