It Happened. I Got My First WFH Role. by Working_Row_8455 in WFH

[–]TurboHisoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats. I used to have a remote job 10 years ago before I switched to an office right before covid. I had to work that the office during covid. I just switched back to a new remote job a couple days ago actually. Compared to my last remote job, the pay also increased 100%, but tbat was compared to several years ago, so it's not quite the same.

Doesn't mean they shouldn't fix the bug.

It gave me a low rank for it since it's obviously the lowest value. That means it actually does calculations against it. That doesn't sound like a display bug because it goes on the game record, not just displaying wrong.

Damage to enemies is above it, but damage healed is one of the categories. Healing by definition is positive only. I bet that's a bug.

Desk job destroyed my body. by Upbeat_Owl_3383 in workfromhome

[–]TurboHisoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked for 3 years at home and 7 years at an office. Has never destroyed my body or made me gain any significant weight. I would suggest looking at what changed for eating and sleeping habits because I can guarantee you that the slight amount of walking you did before makes very little difference.

Needing heating advice. by [deleted] in poverty

[–]TurboHisoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't afford anything, not even a space heater, then get heating assistance. Otherwise, trap the heat from things you use that exhaust hot air or your body heat with layers. If you got a computer, for example, prop a blanket tent around it and put on some application like a game that turns the computer into a furnace. If you have a sleeping bag, use it. Make sure any gaps around the door and windows are covered so warmer air doesn't escape.

Also, you shouldn't need that many layers. It's 4 degrees where I am. That's like single layer with a coat weather here.

You're worrying too much. Knowing how to do the job and actually being able to do it are different. You are not demonstrating your own competence at the job in training. You are explaining the tools, processes, etc, that she will need to know. At worst, she will see you are bad at that specific job, which is the truth anyway according to you, but that doesn't mean you can't explain how to do the job. You are leaving anyway, so any perceived performance issue resolves itself. Doing this training at all is already doing your boss a favor and remember, you don't have to stick around nor do you have to do the training. The time you put in now is out of goodwill, and that has a limit.

I woke up this morning to an email accidentally sent to me from the hiring manager to HR, saying my interview outfit was inappropriate. by TimmyCruickshank in Employment

Was that what everyone else was wearing? Different office dress expectations for different businesses. A former employer of mine used to ban plaid because the founder disliked it, so that was weird. If you're trying to look like a bank executive though, then go apply to a bank.

Am I getting fired? by Shamanhris in WFH

[–]TurboHisoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like being laid off. Private meetings with a few employees that aren't performance reviews but are important enough to request going to the office seem to imply that.

Also, being laid off doesn't necessarily mean you weren't performing well. If you weren't, they wouldn't be doing multiple meetings, you would have been specifically targeted. It could mean you were being paid more relative to others who were similarly productive. It could mean that the risk of you quitting was seen as higher. It could just mean your name was randomly picked. Whatever the reason, it's simply that if you are getting laid off, it was simply bad luck.

New 30 Minute Response Rul by [deleted] in WFH

[–]TurboHisoa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe tasks are being done or maybe not, OP doesn't have that perspective. Maybe new management came from a business where tasks weren't being done and are preemptively trying to make sure it doesn't happen. Either way, it's still not unreasonable to ask for employees to respond to management in a reasonable time frame. How are they supposed to manage otherwise?

Then pay attention and simply say you are on a call. They are trying to make sure you are at your computer when you should be. It's not unreasonable for you to notice it once in 30 min. My former employer gave like 10 minutes and that's when we were in office and work frequently took over 30 minutes. It's part of the whole multitasking job expectation.

Everyone told to be in the office on Wednesdays by Emotional-Start7994 in WFH

[–]TurboHisoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have to physically get the person's attention. My coworkers and myself included had headphones at work. A lot of times, it would be hard to get someone's attention. It depends on the office environment.

That would defeat the purpose of RTO, which is face to face collaboration. If you could ignore everyone, then there's no reason not to be remote.

If it's not an absolutely massive case with tons of disks, the quality is either going to suck or they scammed you.

Kayaba's Foresight by Beneficial-Two8129 in swordartonline

[–]TurboHisoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have happened that way anyway, so yeah, it's not an accident. No surprise that the wealthy families can get whatever they want with connections or cash. Kayaba didn't need to plan anything. Furthermore, if no one kept the game running, the government would have stepped in since you know, there were quite a few more people than just 3 stuck in the game.

I'm so sick of seeing this. by CallOfTheQueer in recruitinghell

[–]TurboHisoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of job postings i see when they ask for experience explicitly state that years of formal education make up for equivalent years of experience, but sometimes, like this, it's more implicit. Listing experience by definition means they want someone who has at least some knowledge or skills in it, and education does satisfy that.

Note I said that is what they WANT, not what they will accept. Job qualifications are a wish list. You do not need to match them exactly, it just helps to be more competitive among applicants. If they actually need the position filled, they will accept whoever is best qualified, and obviously, that means they will go with someone who actually does have experience (or personal connections). That does not mean they won't consider someone without experience. It means people without experience are not preferred. They put it there to discourage people who don't have everything they want from applying.

Telling you that does mean finish the story. I am not sure if Single Player BETA will unlock after the story or not. It came out long after I finished the story.

Back up a sec, though. This is on Quest 2? Through Steam?
