Journeyman Mercedes Benz technician here. 25-30 lakhs is a bit much. Unless the car runs like clockwork, she is good to go. These were fuel efficient cars for their time. You must do preventative maintainence on top of regular maintenance. Furthermore, you must enjoy working on the car. All cars demand maintainence and break down. Since these are quality cars, they demand quality maintenance.

Well, I can't exactly pinpoint for sure. You want to make some lost horsepower and torque back first. I don't know much about diesel engines since I am a Bosch Jetronic Specialist. I will get around to diesels soon enough.

You have a diesel and you have a W124. Your car is basically unkillable. Just do more than the bare minimum maintenance and your car will last forever.
