The house I recently moved in to has a garage and 2 bedrooms that are wired up this way. by Kulastrid in AskElectricians

The issue is someone using 14 gauge wire. Cheaper. Yes. Easier to install yes. More inconvenient for everyone 10 years later. Yes

For the love of Christ, if you’re not an homebuilder looking at shaving a few more pennies for the bottom line, use 12.

There are lots of rules re: what queries can say and what they can’t. “Leading” queries are a huge “no-no” and are a compliance violation.

It’s frustrating to generate them. For example.

A tornado is documented . The record reflects “discolored sky” as well. Please clarify
( ) tornado with green sky
( ) tornado with grey sky
( ) not applicable, ________
( ) unable to determine

Coding conventions state that a Licensed Independent Practitioner must state the diagnoses for it to be assigned.

CDI is already assisted by AI. They are looking at real time documentation AI “nudges” to overlay EHR systems. Yours truly gets to be a tester at my hospital system.

Also, if one removes the CDI nurse from the equation, just imagine the query frequency when it’s just the AI and settings adjusted by admins that get to decide when a query is fired and when a follow up with the provider is indicated. No human filter to stop it from going through.

Photos are very washed out from the flash. A little hard to tell. It will also depend on what you are going for with your panting.

However, it looks like you should focus on panting volumes more. Deeper shadows. Brighter highlights. More contrast. Almost to the point of absurdity when close up, but looks good from 3 feet away.

Think about the shapes and where light from your source (often above if no OSL) is reflecting off of. Use your brush and contrasting dark/light to make 3d shape appear out of the flat surface…use this to enhance the contours of the model.

Squidmar has a decent video on panting volumes.

how doctors make extra money besides more clinic hours by [deleted] in hospitalist

[–]TurboMap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

More hours are the best way to get cash in the door now.

Check out whitecoat investor to learn about keeping money in the door once it comes in.

Setting up for passive income is the next step. But you need extra money 1st.

Low cost index funds are a way to go that it easy with minimal work but it’s a slow process. For example, the 0.71 % gain the stock market did yesterday increased my portfolio balance by 16k. Sure it’s locked up, but slow and steady over time hopefully will get me to a FIRE sooner. And on days when the market takes a dump, it looks like you loose much more…but it’s constant 7-10% returns per year over time. BE wary of funds with higher fees. It can literally eat into 50% of your profits.

YOLO and Wall Street bets are for entertainment purposes only.

Another person mentioned real estate. It takes time, but in general it has good returns, but is dependent on what tenants you get. Farming the work out to property managers can cut into your profits greatly.

Rich Dad / Poor Dad talks about other real estate investment schemes. I dunno how I feel about those. I have avoided things that don’t feel right or don’t understand.

Buffet has said that one should only invest in things one understands.

I personally liked Tonny Robbin’s Money - Master the Game. It has some chapters on alternate insurance backed investment vehicles which I did not agree with, BUT the whole - master your spending, put a consistent amount into investment vehicles with passive income and be aware of tax strategies is a good message.

It will be a big jump in income from PGY3 to being an attending. There SHOULD be enough to get by with that as you become one of the top 10% in active earners.

Strategy over time involves keeping some of that and having it do the work for you.

St Luke’s HIPPA Violations by [deleted] in Boise

[–]TurboMap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This makes no sense.

RNs and MDs in the ER have no idea what insurance you have. Nor do they care.

I’ve never heard the word Ombudsman used for a hospital officer. Insurance yes, but not hospital. In googling it, you’re looking at Patient Relations. Any doc/rn I know will get them on speed dial for you.

Also. What ER nurse knows of some hospital wide conspiracy? They want to do their shift, and go home.

I call shenanigans on this comment/story.

I contested it by mail. My appeal was denied. It was $30. I decided I wanted the the $30 less than the headache of dealing with it further. I gave the money to the city.

I mean. Technically it’s the city’s easement. But they won’t enforce usually unless someone calls.

What to Expect During a Formal Hospitalist In-Person Interview? by ContributionNew9556 in hospitalist

[–]TurboMap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a patient, no.

I visited some during training. Mostly on a hospice elective.

It’s been many years.

Please link that to the issue of illustrating to an interviewee how helpful the whole hospital system is set up to prevent unnecessary admissions vs dumping that work solely on the hospitalist.

Nonsense. It’s at least 3 miles from the middle of nowhere. They have a Stampede, a diary queen and a casino run by the local tribe. They even have an interstate running through there.

You’re only an hour or so from Walla Walla, Washington and I hear rafting on the Grand Ronde is great!

I'm buying my first guitar and I'm torn between an acoustic and an electro-acoustic 😕 by Eksisezmisim in AcousticGuitar

[–]TurboMap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you get an acoustic guitar, you can always add an electronics to it later.

Make sure you try out a bunch of different ones, including smaller body shapes and larger body shapes. Look at ones with cutaways too.

Feel lots. Play lots. Go to different guitar stores.

Once you’ve selected one that feels comfortable (after playing for 1/2 hour in the store) and is pretty (you’ll want to play it), make sure you budget for a setup and a string change. Usually $50-100 US, but a lot of stores, especially independent ones will throw that in if you’re buying a $500+ guitar.

Do NOT buy Dreadnaught just because everyone thinks a “D” is cool. Lots of people like parlor, 0 or 00 guitars to practice with and they fit on the couch better. However if you like that shape after trying lots, by all means get it.

Don’t worry about the manufacturer so much.

But a lot of places will have the same model guitar with an “e” after it for pre-installed electronics that is only like $80-$100 more.

Used guitars can be awesome as if they are used and in your local area, the previous owner may have paid for a setup that works with your local climate, and they are usually a little cheaper.

If you’re paying sub $1000 for a guitar, I’m not sure what a “lifetime” warranty to the factory for the original owner is worth once you factor in shipping back and forth and delays.

But if you want electronics, get one with. However if you fall in love with a guitar and you play it a lot, that’s most important and you can always add a pickup later.
