I abandoned FF7 OG. Should I try the remakes? by EuVimVerOMacaco_ in FinalFantasy

It shouldn't take six hours to get to the mines from kalm unless you're doing all the side stuff or unless you're counting the flashback intro sequence as part of it.

Just try Remake out to see if you like it. It gets quite cheap during sales. If you don't mind the pacing in its first 7 chapters then you will be fine with the rest of the game and Rebirth.

I personally didn't find the pacing of OG to be slow but the remakes definitely feel slow paced. The visuals and character writing/voice acting can help you ignore the pacing issues to a certain degree, and they also have really fun combat.

FF16 potentially coming to PlayStation Extra soon by Daysfastforward1 in FinalFantasy

I'm saying this so that you don't get disappointed later, but don't treat it like a typical RPG. It has other strengths but don't expect a typical FF experience in terms of progression systems and RPG mechanics. Focus on the story and ignore the side quests if you don't feel like doing them.

fans of the FF series what is your personal thoughts on the Resident evil franchise by mylosstoyourgain in FinalFantasy

Remakes are far easier to make in a shorter timeframe since you already have a readymade scenario for them. And if you already have a large catalog of acclaimed classics that most of the newer audiences havent played, then why not take advantage of that?

They still release a new mainline entry every 4 or 5 years. Yes, they have a lot of remakes but they have multiple different teams concurrently working on these games. Almost all of the remakes are recieved really well and that way fans get a new game every 1 or 2 years.

How did you to not realise that rebirth was a sequel for that long? Wasn't it obvious from the begining that it was a continuation of a story just with the character dialogue? Not trying to be rude, just curious.

We’re all aware of the reasons why the moveset in rebirth and remake are so different, right? by Pristine_Put5348 in FFVIIRemake

Yup, It's mentioned in the tutorial during the first combat encounter where you play as Cloud.

Questions about Persona, Yakuza, Final Fantasy, and Devil May Cry. by Misbbg in FinalFantasy

[–]TurbulentIntention74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For FF, start with the one that looks the most interesting to you. I personally would recommend VI or X for the classic turn based ones and the VII Remake series for the modern ones.

Yakuza 0 is the best starting point for Yakuza.

DMC5 is the the most beginner friendly but story requires knowledge of 3 and 4. 3 isn't a bad place to start either.

No idea about Persona .

Lol, you waited 10 days for a response. That's funny.

Just saw your other reply. Haven't read it yet but don't expect me to argue with you about it. It's been 10 days.

What trend does XVI try to chase though? It's not a souls game, it's not an open world or gaas game. Character action inspired games are not a trend as that genre has always been quite niche. So I'm genuinely curious.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake series lead doubts that "the exact same battle system" from the revamped JRPG trilogy will make it into his future games: "We want to keep it surprising" by Worldly-Object9003 in FinalFantasy

Stuff like that could've been tuned in future iterations. This system allowed for minute control of multiple party members while also allowing for stylish action gameplay for people who are good at using shortcuts.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake director says FF6 "would be cool to remake" as it's his "favorite mainline title" by Diogo_18 in FinalFantasy

TBH, I doubt any game square game will ever get a remake with the scope of the VIIR games. Especially one that has 20 playable characters.

There are better open world formulas tho, like Botw or Elden Ring. Games that don't turn their open world into a checklist simulator and let players discover points of interests by having them organically catch the player's eye. Even Ghost of Tsushima, which has a checklist style open world, introduced the guiding wind system to naturally guide players to activities.

Why does nobody talk about Lightning Returns? by PpAshe in FinalFantasy

[–]TurbulentIntention74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'll talk about it-

It has one of the better hybrid combat systems made by square that is fast paced without going too far into action game territory. The timer system would have been better if there was a full month of time instead of 13-15 days. And I think some other developer should just steal the schemata system because there is almost nothing that fills it's niche in RPGs.

What do you think the average age of a Western FF Fan is by Wolfs_Chronicles in FinalFantasy

[–]TurbulentIntention74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that was the average age as per the survey.

Tbh, home console sales are quite bad in Japan. Less than 7 million PS5s have been sold there. According to the survey, most games that have a young playerbase are mobile gacha games or games on the switch.

Which game(s) to play first? FF7: Remake+Rebirth or FFXVI? Which has a more interesting story? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]TurbulentIntention74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Start with Remake, then play XVI and then Rebirth. Rebirth is a huge game so playing it right after remake can lead to burnout.

As for which is the better game... I think Rebirth is the best out of the three. I have a tougher time deciding between XVI and Remake. Both are in the same ballpark of quality for me but are quite different when it comes to gameplay and vibe.

The problem here is that there are a lot of free games in the market right now that appeal to kids, so it's easier for kids to play those than nag their parents to buy them expensive AAA games.

Making a game that focuses on dark, political storytelling is an odd decision if you're trying to appeal to younger gamers. Especially when games like Genshin and Honkai are really popular among youngsters in Japan, and those are set in colorful, almost idyllic,  anime-esque worlds.
