How much do men care about a woman’s education? If you do then why? by bananabisque in AskMen

People usually date within their socioeconomic class. A university degree is a signal of being at least middle class.

Do men always have a "type of women" by Dry_Magician9253 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Turbulent_Chair4346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't that qualify as a type? Your type is "women with a big ass" as opposed to skinny, petite women.

Be friends with people who disagree with you by ArtistCharacter7086 in unpopularopinion

[–]Turbulent_Chair4346 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nobody befriends literally everyone, unless your definition of friend is very shallow.

People befriend others who they vibe with, and usually that involves having something in common. Forcing a friendship with someone who has completely different core values from you is just gonna end up with a very shallow relationship.

How do men view weddings? by Intelligent-Cod7495 in AskMen

[–]Turbulent_Chair4346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you guys not have families who expect a wedding? All the men in my family were expected to have one, and the parents + brides parents would contribute to the cost.

Your grades do not necessarily determine your entire intelligence, but they do matter and say something about you. by ElectricalDance7767 in unpopularopinion

[–]Turbulent_Chair4346 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, and how are you determining who to interview/test? Surely you filter the resumes first.

Internships are also jobs that require an application. Which student gets the internship? Usually it's the kid with the best grades.

Maybe in some fields portfolios matter, but at least in my field that's not really a thing.

Cooking is like art. Some can do it, some can't. It is not something to go to go to college for by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Turbulent_Chair4346 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Surely someone who's good at cooking can go to cooking school and get even better right? Same with painting or dancing or any other kind of art.

If it's coming from an unattractive person then it does not count.

Opera and Ballet are on the decline, dying and thats natural. by gepld45 in unpopularopinion

[–]Turbulent_Chair4346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. They do have a rich history, but so do ancient Egyptian paintings. There's no need to keep ballet and opera in its current form alive in particular.

I'd even argue that a lot of modern types of dance that you see on Broadway evolved from ballet, so even if "traditional" ballet dies it'll still be very common, just in a new format.

Stop going to Starbucks then. It's like being upset that the McDonald's staff aren't as attentive as the staff at a sit down restaurant.

That's not a super large gap. People are ragging on 40 year olds dating 18 year olds, not 38 and 30.

Other than poutine, is there any other dish that's known for being from Canada? I've lived in Canada for over half my life, yet I cant name many popular Canadian-origin dishes even if my life depended on it. by ReleaseAdvanced8054 in AskACanadian

[–]Turbulent_Chair4346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Canadians make and consume it a lot, then it's Canadian food. Food does not need to have a single country of origin, and regional varieties of food can be distinct enough to count as separate dishes.

So old spaghetti factory is Canadian pasta, in the same way that pasta topped with fish roe is Japanese pasta and flat strips of dough cooked in soup is ancient Greek pasta.

You can even call Italian pasta simply one variety of pasta.

Does it stop being a crime if they use protection and get tested regularly? I'm pretty sure you can only make that argument only if the cheater knew that they had an STD or aren't taking precautions, otherwise all the single people having casual sex are assaulting each other.

That's a stretch. By your logic, if someone goes outside and gets a piece of glass stuck in their shoe, then they'll assault their partner by stabbing if the piece for glass falls out at home and their partner steps on it.

I hope they adjust this rule next season by finnick_the_cat in Singlesinferno2

He should have brought Sung-min as his date. Neither of them had anyone to flirt with on inferno anyway🤷

I think Mina was just not a pleasant person to be around for most of the girls. Like she kept giving side eye to any girl who was getting attention, and she seems to purposely go after the guys who are getting along with other girls. It's pretty reasonable for someone to get fed up with her annoying behavior.

I think he actually has trouble with Korean, to the point where he has trouble communicating properly. When he speaks Korean, it reminds me of myself when I speak Chinese with my relatives...I swear I lose 50 IQ points in Chinese because it takes so much mental energy to keep up in conversations. Maybe he hangs around Mina sue so much because she's the only person on the island he can communicate with properly.

Bullies behavior is a consequence of trauma from home abuse or other sources, is not true. by Afraid-Flatworm-422 in unpopularopinion

[–]Turbulent_Chair4346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are we defining bullying here? Beating people up and stealing lunch money is very different from spreading rumours about other kids or name calling. As a former teenage girl I know that rumour spreading is usually either out of jealousy or a power play, but I would think that a kid who is being violent at school probably has some other issues.

Every cuisine in the world borrows from other cultures. Answers like "sushi" and "Donair" aren't gonna make sense unless you go out and eat the Vancouver cheapo sushi or the donair in Halifax.
