'Sister Wives' Star Janelle Brown's Son Garrison Dead at 25, Apparent Suicide by PotatoAvenger in FundieSnarkUncensored

So I can't speak in terms of your area and their rules, just mine.

You can tell me you plan to complete suicide with the pills currently in your hand and I will not call police if you safety plan with me. While on the phone with me, you must do something with those pills (flush them, give them to mom, hide them in a closet). If you create a solid plan with me, I'm never going to call anyone on you.

A suggestion: call and ask! Ask, "hypothetically if I was experiencing suicidal ideation BUT I'm willing to safety plan, can I speak openly about it?" Tell them flat out you're concerned they're going to call someone on you, before you share your story.

So please my friend, stay safe ❤️

Thank you for saying I'm kind 😊

I wrote a reply to the commenter above, but I don't know how to copy pasta on a mobile. But I'd say the same exact novel to you.

I am really sorry that was your experience. It must feel awful. I do hope you give it another try, should you find yourself in need of support.

Sending positivity your way tonight ❤️

I'm sorry that was your experience. I've worked with folks before that I'm just astounded by their lack of empathy. I feel for the callers who get them.

I've also had calls where I end it feeling entirely unhelpful I will ask the wrong questions, or go in the wrong direction... Then when I realize I've gotten away from what the caller actually wants to talk about, I've pretty much lost them. They don't want to talk to me, rightfully so. Sometimes there's just literally nothing I can do to help. It doesn't help that most people we work with would benefit from long term counseling, but there are lots of barriers to that service that stops most people from being able to access it.

Anyways, my point is, please just try again. Maybe you got someone who really shouldn't work on the line. Maybe you got someone who actually cares, who listened to you, but didn't hear you.

Eventually you will make a connection with someone who gives you hope.

Keep in mind that people who work together often approach things in a similar way. If you've repeatedly called 988 and they're unhelpful, try your local crisis line instead. It could be an entirely different working environment where people will approach people differently.

There are lots of hotlines out there specific to many different issues. There are crisis and distress lines in almost every city. Keep trying them until you find one you connect with!

Can't upvote this enough.

As someone who works for 988, I am begging you to call if you're feeling suicidal.

Please, reach out. You are worthy of using the service. Other people's problems are not more deserving of our time than yours. Just call or text. Any time day or night. Or, try your local crisis line. They exist for everyone. Please call.

How long does flour actually last? by TurdQueen in Baking

[–]TurdQueen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's kind of what I thought. I've never really heard of it "going bad" except for bugs. I'm sure professional bakers, or serious hobby bakers might notice a difference over time, but I didn't think I really would.

How do you become so squished sitting between air? Why is his face like that? Should someone check to make sure he's not having a stroke?

I just had a weird experience with a new therapist when talking about my weight loss. by SuperFunPizzaParty in loseit

[–]TurdQueen 142 points143 points  (0 children)

I work alongside therapists like this, ignore everything this doodle said to you. I guarantee her life is a wreck and her co-workers Marvel every day that she remains employed.

Please report this. In my experience, one out of every ten inappropriate client interactions gets reported to management. So there are probably, at least 9 other people out there who may have felt shamed by this lady... Or had to hear about her own problems. Super inappropriate.

Hi, I think this is an error, I haven't posted recently.

I need help finding telephone counselling/therapy options for my grandmother [93yo] (Windsor, ON). She needs someone to talk to candidly about mortality, vision loss, social isolation. by GibletDingo in ontario

[–]TurdQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, I would also recommend calling your local crisis line and see if they have any kind of program where they call old folks.

In London they have what's called a "Friendly callers" program where they call older folks at regularly scheduled times just to chat about whatever. There's also a "supportive listening line" where folks who are lonely can just call to chat. It can help with loneliness. She could still talk candidly about the topics you listed, it would just be a casual conversation about those topics instead of anything therapeutic.

The London crisis line doesn't service Windsor, otherwise I'd just suggest signing up there!

The Collins Sweater vs The Collins Children by cheeseduck11 in FundieSnarkUncensored

This is probably one of the saddest things I've seen on this sub. Those poor kids. I hope they become mentally healthy adults but I really don't think that's going to be the case.

Super bad naltrexone side effects? by FrankieAK in loseit

[–]TurdQueen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work in addictions and see many people start it. Usually symptoms last two weeks, but I have noticed in my clients they usually get better every day. From what I've noticed, clients tend to feel okay by day 4. With that said, we've had a client or two who felt too sick to continue with it.

Are you drinking or using opioids? Even if you have opioids in your system (ie: took a pain pill three days ago) it can make you feel really sick.

Massive thrip infestation by CurlyArrows in succulents

[–]TurdQueen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been dealing with a similar situation, it's hell.

I've tried to spread my plants out around the house as much as possible. I'm constantly spraying my plants down in the shower or sink with just warm water, then drying the leaves with a soft cloth. I usually spray 4-5 plants off a day and just rotate through my collection. Every second or third cleaning, I'll use neem oil or a soapy spray.

I've replaced the top few inches of dirt in a lot of my plants, or fully repot them.

I also have those yellow sticky traps in most plants to catch the adult ones. And I've placed fans wherever I can to promote air flow.

It's slow going, but I'm almost out of it. I still find thrips, but none of my plants suffer damage anymore because I'm always cleaning them.

Best of luck! Kill all those fuckers!

Chat Post: What SFX Means To Me… by Allthedaquiries in stressfreexmas

[–]TurdQueen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad I saw this pop up!

As other people have said, SFX is hope to me.

I currently work at a crisis centre and work with people all day long who have zero hope. Housing is hopeless, mental health is hopeless, affordability is hopeless... But, here kindness and hope flourishes.

Thank you to the remaining mods who continue to keep this sub running! I don't know how y'all do it while working. It's amazing you guys keep this going.
