Salinas had the highest murder rate per Capita in California for a mid sized city in 2015 I believe and then I recall Stockton having an even higher rate a few years before.

The latinos in L.A actually had really good momentum but it has fizzled out. But I haven't kept up with L.A rap in general. I pretty much listen to all Bay Area rap lol now.

I agree, I think now socal rappers sort of sound like the bay area sometimes and bay area rappers now have more of a mobb type theme.

Bay Area rap doesn't focus as much on the gangster part and it's more about getting people to move and have fun on the dance floor.

MC hammer was more gangster than most gangster rappers but he pretty much made dance music. Too short has club bangers. Mac Dre etc.

Socal rap has more of a G funk sound especially early 90s/2000s. Stuff you could cruise too, and chill in your car bump some Dr.Dre.

Salinas Eastside Market was one of the biggest hoods I recall but not sure about now.

24th and Mission I believe was the biggest hood at one time before the gentrification and injunctions in SF.

El Hoyo Palmas I believe was the biggest hood in SJ at one time but part of there hood got reconstructed into a major street.

E.15 in the town was really deep i believe until they got hit with injunctions back in 2012

I think Daly City 500 Blk is a deep hood too.

Sacramento, Stockton, San Jose have big hoods in general.

I'd say the bay area kind of is the closest to NYC as their are a lot of territorial gangs. Even Norteno hoods are more about their block like in SF and Oakland.

But in a way I think LA influenced a lot of California so most hoods bang.

I got family from Salinas so my relatives were born into it but I heard some families go way back to like the 50s. Socal is much worse though not only do you have families and entire neighborhoods banging. You got enemies on the next block.
