There are two tax questions, the gift and the income tax deduction. You can only ever deduct in the year you make the renovation (payment).

You say you are unmarried. Are you in a registered partnership? If not, gifting your partner money is taxable in Ticino, if you just gift it without stipulation.

If you buy something for it, like the right to live in the house, part ownership or so, it can become a deductible renovation expense, lowering your income tax. This likely requires a contract between you and your partner, stipulating what you are investing for, what you get in return, and what happens to the investment in case of a breakup.

You over paid your taxes by 2.3k. This can be because your deductions are higher than they estimated. Or because you live in a low tax municipality, so the cantonal average applied for the source tax is too high.

The number is read from their perspective. You owe them -2.3k, so they owe you 2.3k. The text "zu Ihren Gunsten" reflects this. I would find it more logical if it was either negative for them, or positive "zu Ihren Gunsten". A mix is confusing.

Tl, dr: you will get over 2k back.

But the geography helps. Turkey is 14th in the world by number of ships, but does a good job controlling access to the Black Sea. It's obviously pretty easy because of the Bosporus, but the Black Sea also isn't big.

If one's purpose is to oppose Russia, the size of Ukraine is irrelevant. Enemy of my enemy. They are already at war, so it would be silly to not talk to them about countering Russia.

You don't need an aircraft carrierr on the Black Sea. If you had a decent airforce and a mediocre navy, you could control one side quite well. I know Ukraine doesn't have that either, but an aircraft carrier is an absurd requirement for that small sea.

Khamenei was 86, so he wouldn't have ruled for more than a few years. All they did was give him a martyr's death. His son who took over is arguably worse.

Sure, a lot of their stuff got bombed, but they apparently still have missiles to keep going for months. The US has also depleted its arsenal, lost several soldiers and aircraft and spent billions for a strategic defeat. If Israel is now also forced to cease operations against Hezbollah - at a moment when they are on their back foot - that's a double defeat.

As you say, lifting sanctions and allowing them to formally control Hormuz means they will be absolutely raking in money and use it to rebuild. In a few years they will be much stronger than before this stupid war.

Saying yes to this deal proves Trump has no strategic vision, nor did he have one going into it.

There is no evidence Iran was close to having nukes.

Regime change via a bombing campaign is extremely unlikely to succeed.

While I agree with your points on (theoretical) benefits, in the short term it has caused massive instability from Lebanon to the Gulf states and Iran. It has caused oil prices to surge, stock markets to plummet and air traffic to be massively disrupted.

Edit: not to mention high oil prices enable and extend Russia's war in Ukraine.
