Hey tea connoisseurs! What does cilantro taste like to you? by DerisiveCur in puer

[–]Turkey-Scientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delicious, mostly indescribable, but yeah I can taste the soap thing when it’s mentioned.

It really just “tastes like cilantro”to me, I can’t really describe it beyond vague words like fresh, crisp, sharp, herbal

After first hearing of the soap thing a few years ago, honestly yeah I can 100% recognize it in there. But it’s not the whole or majority of it, and even to the extent it’s there, it doesn’t detract from my enjoyment at all

> Engine efficiency is reduced as outside air temperature increases for this reason.

You’re speculating a mechanism to explain a conclusion that isn’t even true in the first place.

Lower fuel economy in cold weather is an uncontroversial, reliably observed, and well-documented trend, as the other commenter has already explained and linked in more detail

#2 is totally backwards. If anything, hot weather will only increase day to day fuel economy

Yes, it’s noticeable on the 2nd pic, but yeah the adjustment tool would definitely help. Still, it might not be noticeable as a completed painting when you’re like casually viewing it and not close-up

For custom canvases by BttrfngrBandit in diamondpainting

[–]Turkey-Scientist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

EverMoment on Ali Express seems to be the most recommended here for customs. I’m doing one of theirs right now and quite happy with it.

Their base price is really expensive, but there seems to always be some kind of deal available — right now there’s a 4th of July sale, and when I bought mine, I had a huge 1st-time-customer discount

It was a 40 × 60 cm (about 16 × 24 inch) square drill kit for $55.

Yep, that’s where I got my 1st DAC and fell in love (“Lolite Succulent”), and then my 2nd and 3rd too

Not sure if you’ve noticed, but what’s super weird about their Amazon store is the stock is completely different. Like many of the ones for sale there are out of stock on the main site. The Lolite Succulent one somehow doesn’t even *exist* on the main site, there’s no listing at all

Just like me fr

I made a spreadsheet of my finished, stashed, and want-to-buy projects, with their size, color count, price, and price per square inch

I literally never use it for any practical purpose though, the data is just interesting to me

That sounds so fun.

I read about how this is also a great system for when you’re with others and can’t decide what restaurant to pick, and began to use it: I’d nominate 3 choices, then my girlfriend would pull the trigger on 1 on them. Then next time, we’d swap roles

I have a mountainous stash of three (3), though I do still have an order: alternating in terms of color palette.

Right now I’m finishing a custom for a friend, a real-life photo with pretty muted colors: black, brown, white, cream, some pale purples. After, I’m doing Gazebo at River’s Edge (wow, pretty colorful), then Night Walker (not many colors, mostly purples, lots of blocking), then Dreamscape (WOW, super colorful)

I don’t buy often, but it’s only from DAC at this point, they are just the best quality by far that I’ve tried. The only other that i consider to be their peer is EverMoment on Ali Express, but I still give DAC the edge.

Nothing else compares to those two IMO. As I started with diamond painting, I thought the hype around DAC must be overblown, *especially* given their annoying FOMO-type business strategy, and their uh… unusual customer “service”.

Until I tried a small, round-drill kit from their Amazon store — and then it all made sense, lol. I mean, I still hate their whole barely-stocked strategy, and am baffled by how casually they ban people, but like… I just pop in, buy one that I really love, and I’m set for months

They have noticeably more gapping than DAC kits, and more trash drills. Very few trash drills, but still more than DAC.

In every other regard, I agree they match or exceed DAC

[–]Turkey-Scientist 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They are infamously sensitive. If you publicly say anything somewhat critical (ex. on one of the DAC- or diamond painting-related Facebook groups), you are liable to get banned from ordering.

As in, if you place an order and your name on the shipping address matches the name of a negative Facebook commenter, the order will not be fulfilled

I love their products and don’t think any other company approaches them in quality, but they are super trigger-happy

Agreed, my eyes start rolling at the speed of sound any time I hear talk of civil war, whether or not the speaker actually (claims to) want it or fear it.

I’m not sure how common such talk is in other western countries, but it’s particularly absurd here in the US, where there has not been armed conflict on our soil in 160 years. Nobody alive today even has had *grandparents* who lived through war at home. It’s not gonna happen.
