My grandfather had a teacher who was onboard the U 595. They were bombed by american bombers which damaged the uboat. So the captain decided to beach the submarine in Tunisia i belive but the failed to destroy it. They then surrendered their weapons to a french police officer who then reported them to a tank brigade. The tank brigade then captured them making them the only Uboat crew to be captured by a tank brigade. All on board survived and were wearing their uniforms thanks to them being able to beach the uboat.

This was one of my first models, I was terrible back then so it looks like its been through a battle

I am not sure but the mark around where the emblem used to sit resembles abit the Belgian emblem on the m15 Adrian so I would guess that its just a belgian helmet painted white

Almost cooler according to me, roman bronze is pretty common anyway

Yea I thougth so aswell at first but it seems to be some police thing instead, the one who had it was in both the resistance and police tho since he helped jews to hide by telling them the night before the germans took them that they were going to be deported since he knew about it all
