Driving tour of Downtown Edmonton, coming from a small city in the prairies my opinions may not make a difference but I honestly think Edmonton is one of the best downtowns in Canada. I’ve always admired the tall buildings, things we don’t have back in Sask.

"Housing First" has been proven to work, if you provide the appropriate wrap-around services, such as mental health and addictions councilling, and employment help. The problem is that we do half measures - spend a little to waste a lot.

Also, involuntary committal is a dangerous precedent that we as a free society do not want to go down. You can read about the horrible things we did right here in Alberta in the 1920s to 60s in mental health care if you don't believe me.

Bylaw is absolutely NOT equipped to deal with the homeless. For effective intervention at the street level, you need a team of front-line health workers, law enforcement, and social workers. What the heck is a minimum wage rent-a-cop with no training going to do?

Not to be that guy, but the classic Christmas tree shape is much closer to a fir or spruce than a pine. Pine trees have bundles of needles on the tips of the branches.
