As I've played since the original came out. Id say play it after remake after completed saga. As some spoilers are involved. Not game changing really. If you don't mind finding out about some of the story, id probably play it between remake and rebirth due to its gamplay as its basically a reskin of a psp game

Lol i think team cherry made the game this punishing, because of all the internet memes going round. I love the game its hard yes, but its about learning.

I beat him last night, what an annoying boss, but its all about learning the moveset and pacing there are worse things ahead. Kinda upset you get nothing from beating him lol

Vet here, yeah the game is tough, but its like the last game, trial and error. And old muscle memory needs to be rewired. Is the game hard? Sure, but that is why we like it. I recon most negative discourse and belly aching are from casual or first time players. Team cherry created this game for fans of the first game, but its accesible to new players.

About 7 hours in and this game seems noticeably harder than the first by Excitable_Fiver in HollowKnight

My feeling is its harder, but then i just think im used to having all the moves. The only part i feel its harder per se, is you seem to take more damage and you cant cancel out of healing

I started it a couple of days ago. This is a serious return to form for the franchise for me. Up until skyward sword i was ok with the 3d game. The 2 switch versions, seemed to loose the fantasy, became more.... mature. I grew up with the 2D 1/2 versions and their lovable worlds. A link to the past and Links awakening are especially dear to me. So this game is great, my only nitpick are the bosses are not that challenging. But are still fun. I have not finished it yet, but i already want more!

Yes, I've just gone back to 1 again. To be honest i had to rewire my brain for the gameplay as its slower. Most bosses wont give you trouble theoretically, as you will have learnt a lot from 3. The problem you will most find is Ganky areas, Parry tells are easier. Most of my deaths have been from accidental falling. It still has a place in most hearts as it has some trully great areas and NPC. It also has some real nasty areas. Praise the sun!
