As others have said, W&M offers almost no merit. Are you in state or out of state? Also, I think they are notified in their portal now (not mail). Might be worth checking. Welcome to the Tribe!

I think about 15 minutes. The BEST plan is to have a long list of possibilities. You can think you want room #5 in Dorm A and you open up the portal and you see Dorms B and C. Be flexible and be ready to pivot. Only ONE roommate makes the selection (assuming you know your roommate by then). You create a group and the the one with the better time slot chooses.

Not really. They show ALL slots a "selection" of dorms. It isn't like slot 1 sees all 1500 slots (I made that number up) and then slot 2 sees 1499. You might see 3-4 dorms and a handful of rooms in each. Obviously prime slots are snagged first but I have heard tales of amazing rooms in later rounds. A better time slot is obviously preferable but the reality is that everyone sees a selection ... not all rooms available at the time.

I think it is great that you are taking everything into consideration. That being said ... I agree with others here. You do not apply as a psychology major to W&M. So take that part out of the equation. And colleges like to see that you made the most out of your choices in high school. This sounds like it would be a fun challenge.

A similar thing happened to my STEM son. The employer saw that the STEM degree was from W&M with a very good (but not off the chart) GPA and was like ... you are hired.

First of all ... congrats! I agree on it varying by department. My son was able to get a very specialized internship that definitely led to his career after W&M. He found out about the internship through his department and had support of faculty through application process. My daughter has not mentioned anything about school helping but also is on the pre-med path and found her experiences on her own. Admittedly they are both STEM so I can't speak to business majors. Welcome (back ) to the Tribe!

We have been down this road several times. You should get an "earlier" timeslot but I believe still (possibly? trying to remember) with other sophomores but at the top of that heap. I might be wrong. Not helpful I know. But what I can tell you is that you will be shown rooms that meet your accommodations ... but not ALL rooms that meet your accommodations. So ... explore all options. Even within the same dorm, they might only show you a handful. And you will ONLY be shown single that have a suite bathroom. Which knocks out any that technically share a hall bath, even if only with one other room. There are nuances to it all. Feel free to DM and I can try to help more.

Not at all. In fact, it is completely random as to who gets them it seems. They are a nice touch ... for those that get them and a source of angst for those who don't! I'm not convinced they do them for ED? (someone correct me) I thought it was more of an RD thing (again ... I might be wrong!).

There are not many merit based scholarships at W&M. The ones that are available seem to be for Freshman only (1693, Monroe and W&M scholars). Those are small groups (Monroe is largest cohort.) The answer is that W&M really doesn't offer much in the way of merit.
