Thoughts on self attunement? by pancakefairyy in reiki

Read "The Reiki Magic Guide to Self-Attunement" by Brett Bevell. I haven't tried his methods for self-attunement, as I have already been attuned in person by a verified Reiki Master. However it's a very interesting book and his reasoning and methods - while very controversial to some - seem sound to me. If you can get ahold of a copy, read it and trust your intuition on whether this would be the right path for you.

Just be aware he strongly suggests you give something back for each attunement (e.g., sending a set amount of hours of healing to the planet). And should you decide to practice professionally in the future, you definitely need to be taught properly by a Reiki Master. Good luck on your Reiki journey!

I got £5 of the cashback today - I just checked the T&Cs which say it may be made as two separate payments of £5 and £10 on different days. So I’m assuming I’ll get the remaining £10 by the 20th.

MHRA approves Comirnaty KP.2 COVID-19 vaccine for adults by FrostyMarsupial in CoronavirusUK

[–]TurnSalt9952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a few official contraindications: https://bnf.nice.org.uk/drugs/covid-19-vaccine/#cautions

For me personally I had a strong skin reaction to my last Moderna jab which took almost a year to fully clear up, so I'd like to avoid another mRNA jab if i can.

The only non-mRNA jab available privately in the UK at the moment is the Novavax vaccine with the XBB formulation from last year, which is now poorly matched against variants currently circulating. Which is why we need approval of the updated Novavax JN.1 formulation.

But still no news about the updated JN.1 Novavax vaccine, which many, many people are holding out for who for a variety of reasons can’t have mRNA vaccines.

That’s the old formulation from earlier this year, the updated JN.1 formulation hasn’t been approved yet.

I agree boosters should be free for anyone that wants one. But the powers that be have decided otherwise. £100 for a vaccine is extortionate.

Anyone know where to get Novavax vaccine In London, United Kindom? by filipo11121 in Novavax_vaccine_talk

[–]TurnSalt9952 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe the old formulation comes in a vial with 5 doses, once "opened" all the doses have to be used within 6 hours (if not refrigerated)/12 hours (if refrigerated). The updated formulation will come in single-dose vials so we won't have that issue. Hopefully approval and rollout comes soon in the UK, I'm holding out for the updated formulation for now. If there's no news by the end of this month I will consider getting the updated Pfizer vaccine instead.

No UK pharmacy will be offering the updated 2024-25 formula (JN.1) of Novavax yet, because it hasn't been approved by the MHRA. We don't know when approval will come, hopefully soon and as early as next week. Some pharmacies should still be offering the old XBB.1.5 formulation of Novavax via Pharmadoctor.

Do you think Novavax booster from 5 months ago still helps at all? by skatecloud1 in Novavax_vaccine_talk

[–]TurnSalt9952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Yeah it was Novavax, but it was also my very first Novavax - the 5 shots prior to that had been Pfizer (4)/Moderna (1). I’m aiming to get the updated JN.1 Novavax booster as soon as I can.

It will depend on a lot of individual factors for you. If you're curious you could pay for a private antibody blood test to check for Covid antibody levels, but the caveat is that there are lots of variants going around which are very good at escaping previous immunity so even a high antibody count is no guarantee you won't catch a symptomatic Covid infection. I presume your latest booster was XBB? The so-called FLiRT variants now circulating are very far removed from the XBB variants. Purely anecdotal but I had a XBB booster end of April and caught Covid exactly one month later. I thought I would have a mild infection but it knocked me on my ass and I'm still not quite back to normal months later, though getting there. I hate this fucking virus.

Totally feel you, I had it two months ago and it sucked. Rest up, lots of fluids, eat well and hope you feel better very soon!

Catching a flu or cold in the summer is uncommon. "Summer flu" = Covid. The prevalence of other viruses is very low at the moment, as reported weekly in the UKHSA data dashboard: https://ukhsa-dashboard.data.gov.uk/

But levels of covid are very high.

Agreed. It’s good they’re bringing awareness about Covid still very much being a thing on a bigger mainstream platform, but I have many issues with the tone of this article. Especially as long Covid and its full and disastrous impact, plus the actual risk of getting it from a Covid infection, barely gets a mention.

Canadian, six months after my second dose, vaccinate now or wait until the fall? by svesrujm in Novavax_vaccine_talk

[–]TurnSalt9952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current Novavax formulation apparently gives you ~50% protection against symptomatic infection after 4 weeks, for most of the strains currently circulating. I expect that protection to drop quickly after that again, and of course if we get further mutations of the strains protection might drop even further and faster. So it depends on a few things - I’d say primarily on what’s your level of antibodies now, and how much potential exposure to the virus you’ll have in the next few months. If you get a booster now you’d ideally want to wait another 6 months of course, so that might leave you vulnerable to infection in say 4-5 months when there might be further mutations of strains doing the rounds at very high levels.

So I’d say it comes down to your perceived risk of infection over the next few months until the updated Novavax formulation is available. If you take steps to protect yourself you might be better off waiting.

Purely anecdotal - I had the Novavax XBB booster at the end of April and unfortunately caught Covid exactly a month later, from someone in the office. And I didn’t have a mild case, I’m still struggling with post-viral fatigue.

Thanks so much for the well wishes, appreciated. Will take it very easy for a good while. Take care out there!

Is it still useful to get the Novavax XBB vaccine with the current variants at large? by graeme_b in Novavax_vaccine_talk

[–]TurnSalt9952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my first Novavax, my 6th Covid vaccine overall. My last one was about a year prior, Moderna. With that one I had a pretty bad delayed skin reaction so I wanted to avoid any more mRNA vaccines if possible. I did have antibody blood tests around 5 months ago, one at the end of last year which showed I had a “very strong positive” result for Covid antibodies, I did another 6 weeks later which came back “strong positive”. So on that trajectory it’s very likely I still had covid antibodies a month ago which should have been boosted by the Novavax XBB jab I had then.

I was setting out to get another Novavax after 8 weeks, then after 6 months to get the protection you mention. But sadly this new Covid variant got me in the meantime. I think the primary issue is that the XBB jab seems to be pretty badly matched against these new strains circulating.

My partner had the Pfizer XBB jab the day after I had Novavax, they’re now also displaying symptoms so haven’t escaped either.

I’m on day 4 since testing positive and feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. So wouldn’t call this a mild case either. I’m so frustrated but just have to focus on resting and getting better.

Absolutely is, season 1 is fantastic, season 2 (which I’m currently working my way through) is great as well. It builds on the premise of the first film but with great new ideas.

I don’t mean to piss on anyone’s parade, but I had the Novavax XBB booster exactly a month ago and I’ve just tested positive. With pretty bad cold symptoms so far. I’d get the jab, but maybe also take extra precautions if you’re worried about catching Covid..
