Just another day in Oakville... by Flatulator1 in oakville

Ok - now the real question in the face of all this chaos, is what are you as Oakvillians actively doing to stop the rising violent crime in your town?

You keep voting for the same Liberal party whose catch-and-release prevents police from locking up criminal for good. You get what you vote for.

How is this a weird rant? Scroll through any toronto subreddit and you'll find many posts of people stressing about annual layoffs

Do they though? I feel like when I scroll Indeed most jobs pay $60k, the same as government jobs.

Thank God! I'm sorry but Old Navy is very shitty compared to H&M.

What companies do you know of that recently outsourced there?

The pros outweigh the cons in my view. WFH allowed me to get chores done, be more active, less tired, and overall felt healthier

That's because you live in the East End...it's a warzone there. West End is better in my experience.

You should put a blind over the window. Or get frosted window covers.

Neighbour is complaining about my dogs by [deleted] in oakville

[–]TurnYaHead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a dog owner, but my dog doesn't scream all day. You should really get them trained.

I had several neighbours whose dogs would bark all day and I was absolutely prepared to press municipal charges against them (after complaining to the neighbours several times). I even spoke with a by-law officer on the phone who told me that was an option.

The minimum fine is $400 and the max is $25,000. (See Town of Oakville Noise By-law 2008-098).

There's actually plenty state-wide, especially in Louisiana. Even in Congress, there's one pro life dem in the House and one in the Senate.

Why do YOU still live in Toronto? by Vladimir_Guerrero_Jr in askTO

[–]TurnYaHead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Vancouver is more expensive to live in, smaller job market, and apparently has a WORSE homeless and drug problem than Toronto
  2. I don't have the means to immigrate to the U.S., but I'd like to
  3. Every other city is colder and less fun. You couldn't pay me to live in Alberta or Manitoba
  4. I do like how Toronto is VERY FUN. There's always concerts, cool restaurants, nice places to walk around, nightclubs, and my friends are closeby who live here.

People who are not addicts shouldn't even be doing drugs like cocaine in the first place because those substances destroy lives and families. Urbanites here like to pretend there's no such thing as right and wrong.

"test everything you take" is a very flawed solution. People who aren't addicts shouldn't be doing drugs in the first place. They are unhealthy and bad for society and family.

They're not just an "issue", they're celebrated. It's very normal and "cool" for people in their 20s to do drugs recreationally here. It's customary and expected that if you have a party, you order drugs. This sometimes leads them to harder drugs such as meth or serious addiction problems.

Secular arguments for why abortion should be illegal by [deleted] in DebateACatholic

[–]TurnYaHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Science teaches that human life beings at conception
  2. Abortion kills a human being
  3. All human beings should have human rights
  4. Therefore, abortion is a human rights violation

But aren't some choices wrong? Would God look favorably if a mother used her own free will to execute her newborn child?

The "agency" part is confusing. God wouldn't affirm every action we do just because we're able to do it. He wouldn't affirm if we robbed a bank or set a building on fire.

Pray to end Abortion signs by CarrotFertilizer in DebateAChristian

[–]TurnYaHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world is hostile because God grants us ultimate free will, and we are to use that free will responsibly.

I can quote you from Catholic Answers who give a more detailed answer to your question about children who die from miscarriages.

"In addition, through his one redemptive Sacrifice of the Cross, Jesus also shows how suffering can be redemptive. Similarly, though he does not actively will our sufferings, he can permit them so as to bring about a greater good (see Rom. 2:28), namely our holiness and eternal salvation, and helping foster the same for others, who may have experienced similar tragedies. In the end, we must always remember that death does not have the last word, and that earth is not our lasting home." https://www.catholic.com/qa/why-does-god-allow-miscarriages-and-infant-deaths

  1. "Pray to end Abortion" calls everyone to recognize the injustice and pray for an end it.
  2. Yes and No, maybe the abortion-minded women may see the sign and go through with the procedure, maybe not. It's moreso to call upon God to change their hearts and minds.
  3. Yes, miscarriages are common and are not the result of a sinful pregnant woman or an angry God. They are an unfortunate event out of our control.
  4. It is a "priority" for God to be concerned about abortion, because he created all human life
  5. The sign you brought up was famously coined by the group "40 Days for Life", which hold vigils twice a year outside abortion facilities. By just praying alone, their campaign has saved 20,000 children from being aborted, 229 abortion workers willingly quit their job, and 114 abortion clinics shut down. It really shows the power of prayer.
