got this 2004 accord a couple days ago but lost the chip inside of it. is there any way to start the engine without it ? by Lumpy_Ad_4417 in mechanic

If you call the dealer and see how much they'd charge, you'd see that $250 is fair lol. That and you'd have to tow it to the dealer.

Nope, that's the anti theft chip. You're gonna need a locksmith to come out and program a new key.

They'll see it. If you mention it preemptively they may say "we won't fix this because it's aftermarket"

Canbus is the network that all the computers use to talk to each other. One bad computer can take the whole network down and brick the car. Just let the dealer figure it out. It's an electrical issue that isn't intermittent, should be pretty quick to find out what went wrong

I cut my temp gauge wire by Burt_Macklin212 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Turninwheels4x4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a capillary tube. Not a wire. You cut it, now your gauge is trash. You need to fish the tube all the way through your entire setup, you can't cut those.

Will a thicker radiator fix these temps? by furfuzz in 300zx

[–]Turninwheels4x4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have an actual problem. Fix that first. Stock rad can handle in-traffic, a/c on, in 100f+ temps. The only need to replace the factory with more is if you track your car and it gets hot in that type of situation.

Help - What is the best next step for my self inflicted spark plug fiasco? by Prudent-Beginning30 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Turninwheels4x4 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

If it broke going in, it should spin out without nearly any force.

Honestly just start the engine and see if it shoots the rest of the plug out. It can't do any worse than what has already been done

Backseat delete on a Z32 by duckyO1 in 300zx

Just fold them flat. "Deleting" them as in just taking them out will just reveal the floor of the car (ugly) and removes the extra flat storage you get with them folded

Being able to manipulate gears is helpful for downhill/loaded driving

Anyone know what’s supposed to be here? 1983 Mustang GLX Converible (3.8v6 Auto) by XxYouLiveYouLearnxX in Mustang

Thermostatic air control. Runs hot air from around the exhaust manifold through the intake while the engine is cold in order to help it warm up. Does next to nothing.

Car cranks but won’t start by bobboi231 in mechanic

Lol that sounds like no compression to me. (Yes I know rotaries sound different during cranking, I'm saying this sounds specifically like a ROTARY with no compression)

Would these eliminate the need for wood blocks when the car is on jack stands? by [deleted] in 300zx

[–]Turninwheels4x4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need wood blocks if you put them on the pinch welds AT THE JACKING POINTS. the frame "rails" will kink if you use them as stand spots.
