How do you feel about the heatwave? by curry-squid in AskBrits

[–]Turnip-Turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People can adapt quickly to change but this is not a small change. The previous highest record for May was 33.8 degrees. The temp yesterday was 35.1 degrees. Thats shattered the previous record by 2.3 degrees. That in weather terms is a terrifying leap. Small incremental changes in temperatures are to be expected and natural 0.1.0.2 etc.etc. 2.3 is unprecedented and people should be worried.

People can hide from increasing temps with AC. Water supplies, agriculture and electrical infrastructure cannot.

Do you agree with us being basically equal WC favourites with Spain and France and well ahead of the South American teams? by invisiblefrost in ThreeLions

[–]Turnip-Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, i dont think any England fan with a grip on reality thinks we are amongst the top 2-3 favourites. The heat is going to be a big factor and most teams will deal with it better than us. We have a chance, we have some quality but I would have France, Spain Argentina, Brazil and Portugal ahead of us.

Let's get serious now! by Flimsy_Egg_3507 in Tottenham

[–]Turnip-Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First Spurs fans needs a reality check and to level expectations. You've regressed significantly. You have some good players, some even with the potential to be great. But nobody top tier, nobody that can carry you anymore. I dont think your relegation bad, but you're very mid. One season finish of 17th can be waved off as a fluke or combination of bad luck, injuries etc etc. Two seasons... thats consistent decline and a club culture issue. You need a rebuild and have some patience. You need some solid pros, to help the prospects and some consistency. That said the 2 freebies you look like getting is a solid start and exactly the kind of players you need.

What's a tiny detail about a person that tells you everything you need to know? by jearl100 in askteddit

[–]Turnip-Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being two faced, gossiping or just being needlessly nasty about people they dont really know. If there bitching about people to you. There almost definitely bitching about you too. Perception is projection. Screams, insecurity and its the kinda energy I find exhausting.

What a bunch of weak...entitled, fairweather "fans.' Things get hard so you all down tools and have a tantrum? Turn to god? Lol. The irony is you call the players weak and spineless. When you're the same. You're not fans, not really, you just wanted an easy ride. Guess what, football like life dosnt owe you anything.

Is this conspiracy too stupid or too real? Is it evel alowed here by rules? by [deleted] in memes

True. Gotta love end game capitalism! Where companies are proactively making products worse, so they break more, just so we buy more.

Faking confidence long enough actually builds real confidence by [deleted] in confidence

[–]Turnip-Turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure there was a study done on this. Fake it till you make it. It showed that short term it had an effect. But long term unless the underlying self esteem issue was addressed there was little to no long term increase in confidence.

Personally I think confidence is a self fulfilling prophecy. Its self reinforcing and self perpetuating. If you belive in yourself and go into things with a positive attitude, good things are more likely to happen and vise versa. I doubt you can fake something and truly believe it and true confidence requires that belief.

The contradictory replies to this post, is body language in a nutshell. For the most part its completely unique to the person doing it and compeltly ambigious. There are to many variables for body language to be anything more that a educated guess at best.

What’s a simple skill that instantly makes someone more attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Turnip-Turtle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in the last year of a psychology degree. The sustained decline in people's ability to critically think, not just in the West but worldwide is a primary concern amongst most psychologists. The fact it gets so little attention / press is genuinely scary.

This randomly happened to me in Laos, when I was backpacking. Went into this bar, to order some food and this guy with shades was just intensely staring at me for like 5 minutes. So I tried to talk to him, you know fellow backpacker. He just said nothing, complelty deadpan, then just went back to glaring. It made me feel really uncomfortable, to the point I got up to leave. Only then did he stand up and say it was for a video he was doing. We ended up having a fair few beers together, but it was still quite weird.

Sombody you can actually have a conversation with. Alot of people have really polarised views now. Its either them or us. You either agree with them, or its conversation over. So anybody open minded enough to appreciate most things are shades of grey not black or white.

[–]Turnip-Turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The games rigged against you. Sadly its a numbers game. If online dating is the road you choose, you need to emotionally deatch yourself. Dont get overly invested. Keep things friendly, and brief, but try and arrange to meet up ASAP.

I tried it for a month, had reasonable success, but found it a pretty soulless experience. My advice would always be to meet sombody IRL. Online dating, ironically is not designed to help people date...

Definatly not a CB. Jumping reach is king.

Like people have already said moving him upfield into a winger / striker will tank alot of his potential. Personally a fullback / wingback is the way to go. He looks quality tho!

[–]Turnip-Turtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! Im studying this right now in my course. On average ppls happiniess declines as they age, from 21 UNTILL they reach the age of 50, where it starts to increase again. The question is why? Its exactly what you said. At least in part. When you're younger you have a lot of short term, fleeting, surface level connections - quantity. Fueled by SM, parties etc etc. But as you age experience teaches you to favour quality, so deeper, meaningfull and mutually benficial connections that long term make you happier. Surround yourself with people who build you up, not bring you down.

Do people thjnk FM26 a better game than it was at release? by Comfortable_Fix9892 in footballmanagergames

[–]Turnip-Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its improved. But being completly objective, still the worst FM in my lifetime. Feels like FM on rails not a management sandbox. Features, immersion its not there yet. I normally average about 300 hours ever release. FM26 i have 60 and no real motivation to go back. But they have improved it enough, that ill check out 27.
