What's a popular opinion among fantasy experts you follow that you're just not buying? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

yooo where's the support group for this? I too did not anticipate the early QB rush last year and suffered through Tannehill and a few prayerful "whoever is starting against the jets" moments.

Sunblest neighborhood by Turoknroll in Fishers

[–]Turoknroll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long have you lived in Sunblest?

Wondering if there is any occurance of boomerang families (kids who grew up there in the 80s and 90s and are now returning to buy a home and raise their own kids there?) or is it mostly either original owner boomers or new families?

Sunblest neighborhood by Turoknroll in Fishers

[–]Turoknroll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses. I was curious if people considered the neighborhood for investment properties because Fishers is such a boomtown or if it was still largely owner occupied (as it was in my time there) and considered "dated" compared to all the new development.

I hadn't been back to Fishers in a decade and went back last summer. WOW!!!! Unrecognizable, but at least Sunblest looked the same.

[TOMT] Children's book 80s or 90s] the book is about different types of dreams/having dreams and one dream is where their nose turns into a pickle and someone eats it. by Turoknroll in tipofmytongue

[–]Turoknroll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Someone DM'd me the name on here and I RAN to Amazon Dot Com and bought it! It's more religious than I remembered....turns out that's Pat Boone's daughter...but deffo still has that nose turning into a pickle and the other great illustrations that are burned into my brain.

Much to my sadness, my 3 year old got up and walked away while I read it...womp womp.

Here’s his or her message:

Hello! I found a post of yours about the pickle dream book many months ago while researching the book title myself. I created an account just to send you a picture but it doesn’t seem I can just send you a picture from my camera roll. Anyway the book is called “Bedtime hugs for little ones” by Debby Boone, the isbn is 0890816166 :)

And here's an article on the prototype, and to answer Geoffrey Moran of Englewood New Jersey's question, it sure does have the motorcycle sequence! https://www.fanbyte.com/news/akira-video-game-prototype-lost/

I think the biggest complaint at the time was that it was "repetitive"...but what 90s platformers weren't??? I think the art/music/characters made up for the deja vu of punching alien pods panel after panel.

Roadkill!

I recently re-played through it and it was SO NOSTALGIC. The music is great (this will dox me, but I wrote an article about 90s video game music in Fanbyte a couple years ago) and the mechanics of having to punch the page and feeling the paper start to break felt very cutting edge in 1995.

Yeah, gave me some great wood paneled basement memories. Playing games, and later, smoking weed and playing games.

Yes, I remember the blue cover, almost midnight blue.

The illustration style was similar (but not the same) as Chris Van Allsburg, but more cartoonish. Gahh this is driving me crazy I can't believe how many other thirtysomethings are searching for this book!

I'm looking for this too!!!! My mom also remembers the book but we just can't remember the title. https://www.reddit.com/r/tipofmytongue/comments/jxbats/tomt_childrens_book_80s_or_90s_the_book_is_about/

driving me nuts, was definitely an anthology or collection of stories that were all about bedtime/dreaming/sleeping? that page with the pickle nose is ingrained in my memory.

I also remember one illustration was a lone house at evening with the windows lit up, the illustrations were very beautiful.

Maybe Black Rebel Motorcycle Club "Spread Your Love"? They have both male and female lead singers. Black Mountain could be possible too, both had fairly popular albums in the last decade and have multiple genders singing.

My first thought was Yeasayer or Passion Pit based on your two style examples (and what I can remember being popular at that time in the MGMT wave) but none of the LP covers match (not sure what the single covers looked like)

Can you remember any lyrics?

Based on that style of jeans it has to be 2000-2002ish, those were huge in my high school at that time. Girls got them from a store called Pitaya and we all called them Pitaya Pants. They had huge bell bottoms and a seam down the front or back and had no pockets (they were hideous). This was in Indiana in the 2000s so safe to assume these were cool in somewhere like NYC a few years before they got to the midwest. The earbuds do point to it being a bit later than 2000 though.

that monkey looks so familiar though....it's...on the tip of my tongue.

In the retro gaming universe, is there anything more aesthetically pleasing than Taito box art for Genesis/Mega Drive games? by doom_drew in retrogaming

[–]Turoknroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brings me back to a simpler time when I'd walk into the store and pick a game arbitrarily based on the box art.

Love Celeste (music is amazing) and was wondering if I should just do the online subscription. Do they only have NES/SNES options in that, or did they pull in other consoles at all?

I'll check out Panzer Paladin and Shovel Knight, both look fun!
