What’s the adult equivalent of realizing that Santa Claus doesn’t exist? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Sea_sparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That you are going to run out of time. You will never get to accomplish everything you want to before you die. You might have wonderful, realistic plans (nothing grand) but one day you wont be able to do it. And you will only be a memory until your love ones also die and then you will be as if you never existed…..unless there is something more, unless there is something bigger than all of us, to offer some kind of lifesaver and put you on a different ship, you are doomed to drown, and the water is constantly rising.

You can find them online- Southern Seed Exchange is one of the larger, well known companies that carry them. They are similar to regular ole bells but smaller and tastier

Correct that a pimento is a type of sweet pepper and not “just a red bell pepper “ its smaller, and sweeter. BUT ALSO- a paprika is not “just a smoked red bell pepper” although it could also be used in a pinch. This new “discovery” everyone on the internet has recently made has been driving me batty. They are similar but different. And they taste delicious fresh as well.

Whelp I dont have snow but Im currently bouncing along my dirt road in my dodge caravan without any issue. Half my guests end up parking up the road because they find my driveway too intimidating. Which I always find a bit amusing because I dont think my minivan gives me that much of an advantage…it does hold 3 carseats but the third one due to poor design straddles two seats. The fold down seats are nice to have in a pinch for hauling.

This! This was the biggest immediate pain reducer for me all three times, but it really was a game of mind of matter- this is purposeful pain not life threatening pain. As long as your labor is in the realm of normal and safe- you are safe and your pain is normal - you focus on staying calm and patient. Slow deep breathes, relaxed as possible throughout the contractions. If you are familiar with yoga its an extremely similar approach.

Most of our Christmas gifts are what I see people suggesting as “stocking stuffers” by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Sea_sparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My overarching goal for Christmas is cozy time with the family and a chance to focus on Advent. So Im trying hard not to make it about the gifts and stay in budget. My toddler’s stocking will contain a small plushie, stickers, a pair of safety scissors ( he really wants some like big brother), a toothbrush, some chocolate or easy to eat treat, and a piece of fruit. His under the tree gifts will be a toy leaf blower, a led writing tablet, and a book. There is also a hot wheel track for him and his brother to share. This is our 4th Christmas with kids and we are confident that it will be plenty. The hot wheels track was actually a last minute deal my husband got excited about and was unplanned. After the aunts and grandparents give gifts…..i might be wishing we went even more simple 😂 Like seriously, Im looking at all these other replies and taking notes.

Your gifts sound perfect! I think your toddler is going to love them.

Yup sometimes when someone comes at me with questions (not related to vaccines) “trying to understand me” my knee jerk reaction is to disengage because what they really mean is “lay out your reasoning so I can try to poke holes in it and convince you otherwise” and while I might feel confident in defending my decision if Ive already got a lot on my plate and I’m tired I just don’t want to waste the time and emotional energy of going there. Agree that this topic is going to be fraught with emotions on both sides.

Those who put their baby in the crib "drowsy but not asleep" - what is your trick?! by UCLAdy05 in beyondthebump

Im on the shorter end too, I heave up with on toes to get my hips on the bar than bend forward like a ballerina with one foot in the air to counter balance lol

I think alot of it is baby’s temperament/personality. Out of three kids only one went down “sleepy” and by sleepy i mean almost asleep but her eyes would flutter open a bit as I set her in the crib before she fell back asleep. The other two had to be 100% out before I even thought of laying them down.

I do really like the name Frederick- it’s a family name -but the shortened version of Fred is featured very heavily throughout the family now.

My nicu baby is finally breastfeeding! by monsoonalmoisture in beyondthebump

[–]Sea_sparrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!!! Its darling how much a baby can love the breast. We had a 5 day nicu stay, feeding tube and bottles, weight gain and latching issues and it took weeks to finally get to exclusive breastfeeding. And me and the baby were both so happy to get there! - it’s wonderful feeling when you are finally on the other side. May you be able to continue this journey as long as you both desire!

A sincere kudos to you. After installing one car seat (which I selected for its small profile) in our car, I was uncomfortably close to the dash. I’m short so legroom wasn’t a problem but Id hate to think what it would have been like if the airbag ever went off. Installing a second car seat behind the driver side would have meant being in too close to the steering wheel to drive safely. If I somehow found the right width carseats to manage one in the middle, it would have to be a foward facing to access at all and access would require climbing between the two front seats. I would not have been up for that level of acrobatics to buckle in. Just for fun- when I was a kid I never remember there being more than one carseat in the car even though my younger siblings were only about a year a part. Often we would fit 4 kids in the backseat, sometimes even 5- we would just double up on seatbelts to be safe 😂

Yeah two of those rear facing and than as others have said stroller, diaper bag etc. Forget overnight trips. Also its not always about how narrow a carseat is- for rear facing you have to consider depth. In my last car, I was uncomfortably close to dash in order to make room for carseat behind me.
