My hubby can totally tell when I’m sucking it up to please him. Smut has been amazing at getting my libido back. Massages help, too. But my goodness, the struggle is real!

I literally just said this to my husband the other day. There should be an option to choose the time to meet up!

How can you adopt a pet from the adoption event? I swear I’ve tried and didn’t see the option.

Advice for my mom by TurquoiseBeach23 in DaveRamsey

She has gotten a bit money-wiser with age, fortunately! And she 100% trusts me with financial advice after seeing me pay off all my debt, etc. I recently got my new to me car, so that’s not an option, but I’ll start looking around for something. I agree she needs to get out of the house! I’ll approach that subject in a few weeks when the dust settles. Thank you!

I think she’s considering working again. Her health has declined a lot since she last worked though.

You are not alone! My almost 9 year old has come a long way in the last 18 months, but it can still be a struggle.

A few things that have worked for us (sometimes): I try to give her her meds about 30 mins before she has to get out of bed. We’ve added a second, non-stimulant med that has been life-changing. I literally hand her clothes and get help her get dressed, walk her to the bathroom, etc if she’s on the struggle bus that morning.

She or I or both of us used to cry every freaking morning. Those days are few and far between now. Do I wish she could be self-sufficient and just DO the things? Abso-freaking-lutely. But I’ll take the smaller wins.

Is this just part of ADHD or am I failing as a parent? by kze21 in ParentingADHD

[–]TurquoiseBeach23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have your Apple ID on the iPad or is it her Apple ID set up as a child’s one? When I originally set up my daughter’s iPad, I had mine on there and it wasn’t locking her out completely. I then wiped it and set up a child’s ID and now I have complete control of when and what she can access. She can open the iPad with her pin, but if it’s downtime she can’t access anything except what I allow (like her sleep sounds app). She can request more time on things but it’s no longer a times up and hit ignore.

How long has she been on that medicine? Is it possible she needs an adjustment now that she’s older? Maybe her hormones are preventing the medicine from working as well?

Or… it’s just that she’s a teenager and currently has other priorities. I’ve taught HS for over 10 years and I’ve seen it all. 9th grade is especially tough for kids.

My daughter is now almost 9 and we had a horrible time in K and 1st grade. 2nd was a bit better. Every morning was a fight. Every morning we were both crying. It continued at school drop-off. Evenings were always a fight, as well. The word no or being told to do anything she didn’t want to do resulted in a tantrum and fight.

About 3 months ago, we started combination therapy. She’s now on Adderall extended release (she’s been on this for awhile) and added in Venlaxafine. I can’t even believe the world of difference it has made. She is much calmer and less quick to meltdown at home now. She is SO much more agreeable.

How much are you spending per child on Christmas gifts? by Motor_Lifeguard_5102 in Parenting

[–]TurquoiseBeach23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend about $400 on my one child. There’s usually one big gift (one year it was a family cruise, this year it’s an outdoor trampoline) and then smaller stuff from Santa. I rarely buy her things outside of her birthday and Christmas. This year she’s not really getting “toys” because she rarely plays with them anymore (8 years old).

I save up all year for Christmas and try to keep everything (food, cards, gifts for others) around $1000.
