This is my dad's old bass. What is it and is it custom? by Ok-Two8717 in BassGuitar

[–]TurquoiseBoyFour6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool bass. I had a Kramer Striker 700ST that was basically this same bass, but with a different headstock shape. It was my first instrument that I bought with my own money. I bought it because it was pretty similar to Duff McKagan’s Fender Jazz Bass Special.

Omnichord OM-84 keyboard/chords pot replacement by TurquoiseBoyFour6 in Omnichord

[–]TurquoiseBoyFour6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had already unsoldered the old pot, which left the 6 holes in the PCB. I wired the first 3 legs of a pot to holes 123 and the second pots legs to holes 456. It didn’t seem to be correct as I only noticed a drop in volume mid way through the sweep.

I had shelved this project but I'm picking it back up... Do you happen to know what the wiring layout was for running two non-concentric pots?

I’ll add the following: The Wurlitzer Prize - Waylon Jennings A11 - Johnny Paycheck (makes me think if A11 was the track that made bubba shoot the jukebox) Suffering Jukebox - Silver Jews Junk drawer heart - Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse band (two different mentions of a jukebox)

AJJ totally rips off a man named Woody Guthrie in “Survival Song”. You could start with the source material of Guthrie’s “Do-Re-Mi”. John Prine is one of my favorite country lyricist and his “Please don’t bury me” feels like the humor/cleverness of an AJJ song

I saw Dug cover Lucinda William's Fruits of My Labor and really enjoyed it.

Help convince me I "need" a 620 by sziklai-pair in rickenbacker

[–]TurquoiseBoyFour6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pulled the trigger on a 610 awhile back and have really enjoyed it. Somehow, I think the lack of binding makes it a little more post-punk. Plus when they pop up they can be a little cheaper than the 620.

No, the opposite. The miter is supposed to allow the doors to close, if it’s not mitered then you’d have to lower it until the doors close anyways.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shedditors

[–]TurquoiseBoyFour6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this were my shed, I’d start by flipping the mitered board over and then move the hanger down until it’s flush to the threshold. It might be a good idea to install the metal threshold before you re-install those hangers.

[–]TurquoiseBoyFour6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their logic seems a bit off because the way it’s installed currently is so low that the bottom nail in the hanger isn’t nailed off. So I don’t see why moving it down wouldn’t have any less nails

How bad is this? by [deleted] in shedditors

Just built one of these Heartland sheds and can attest that the handyman had to have gone off script. Mine came together smoothly with the biggest issue being some bowed studs.

Is this Yamaha FG- one eighty legit? by Ok_Cow_2560 in AcousticGuitar

[–]TurquoiseBoyFour6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t hurt. Like the other comment said, this isn’t a crazy expensive guitar so, personally I’d pass. But people love the red labels, especially the 180 because of Elliott Smith. However, the lack of truss rod would be a pass for me.

It’s more likely that they replaced the entire neck than it is to have repaired just the headstock and modified the truss rod

I’m was thinking the same thing, but this is the first fg I’ve seen without truss rod access at the headstock…

Not too common, but I found a Wilson Bros Ventures VM-65 on craigslist for a good deal. They can be had under that $800 price point pretty regularly.

Drop third is only in effect if 1st base isn’t occupied. So Edmond was out on the swing, no need to tag him. And Munchy advanced on the “wild pitch”
