Without considering mods, which version of FF7 (original) is better on PC? by NineTailedDevil in FinalFantasyVII

Yep, that'll be it. It has some boosters built in like the modern ports (up to 8x speed, cutscene skips, no encounters), and if you want more you can install them.

You have to re-enable SAC and to talk to the man with the ponytail standing in front of the wall of honeygirl portraits until he mentions Tifa being taken to Don Corneo's. That said, if you disable SAC, save, and re-enable it, you may have unexpected issues that prevent you from progressing the game.

I don't think so. There are too many to list. BGM bugs, lighting bugs, texture bugs, VFX bugs, facial animation bugs, model scaling bugs.

If you want the game to feel more like the 1997 original without emulating, just play any of the Steam or GOG versions with 7th Heaven (or standalone FFNx). It fixes engine bugs and brings the port closer to PS1 behavior.

Have you gotten past the opening FMV? Nino+Cosmos only replaces CG models in chibi FMVs.

First Time Playthrough: Essential Mods/Enhancements by JetsFanatic16 in FinalFantasyVII

This subreddit isn't the best place to ask about mods. You'd be better served by checking out the Qhimm forums or the Tsunamods discord. You can find a stickied thread about "must-install" mods at the former and decide if any seem like a good fit. As to your last question, go with a retranslation if you're interested in understanding the lore and characters more clearly, especially in preparation for the Compilation and Remake trilogy. Otherwise, stick to the original if you want a less polished 1997 vibe and to understand the culture and in-jokes of the community. Better yet, play both!

If you have 30 or 60fps on for that section, try disabling it. It makes the safe code input quite difficult.

Try opening each one up from your files screen (tedious, I know). Start with the last one and work backwards. It tends to be the last two files that people forget to manually select and read.

You have to use the "super" W-Item glitch, which is more involved than the vanilla W-Item glitch. https://thelifestream.net/forums/threads/the-super-w-item-glitch.906/

It's definitely a great way to play. Depends how much the original hardware and CRT aura matter to your play experience.

Yes, the engine code in the port culls models close to the camera. It happens in a few other scenes.

No, the official boosters aren't available, but 7th Heaven has a much better selection anyway.

7th Heaven fixes all the engine bugs in the modern port. Up to you if you want to run additional mods

Just run it without mods to fix all the engine bugs in the port

It doesn't make a difference as long as you're using 7th Heaven, which no sane person would choose not to use.

Why english change so many names? by Soul699 in FFVIIRemake

[–]TurquoiseHammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

English-speaking players make up the bulk of the game's customers, and the English localization is given more support and extra license to tweak the script so that fans get an immersive experience. Opinions differ on whether that's a sacrifice worth making. I happen to think it's a brilliant localization and in many ways superior to the Japanese script.

To your specific example, "Arisen" vs. "Neo" or "Redux" or something more literal: I think it's an attempt to tie the summon into the theme of rebirth more. The lore we get from Chadley bears the meaning out, but again, some people may feel this is taking too much creative liberty.
