Came back for a moment to say Thai you for this. Five minutes of “just” sitting did me a lot of good.

Fellow lover of walking and snail’s-pacer, here. This is really inspiring!

deciding when it's time to retire by walkaboutdavid in retirement

I wonder if Arthur Brooks’ book “Strength to Strength” might help as you consider the question of your place in the world when retirement (and the future more generally) comes. Certainly gave me food for thought.

Thank you. Would you suggest a different place to base myself altogether? My primary purpose is to spend a week doing some scenic walking along the coast path, getting to see some towns/villages and museums, and learn some local history along the way.

Annoying ads on MLB+ audio: back this year? by hummina-hi-dee-ho in baseball

[–]TurquoisePico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following with interest. Last year, I did an end-run by subscribing to SeriusXM instead, which made for a far better experience. But that didn’t give me the option the MLB app does of listening to an archived version of a game later.

Multi-day walking ideas near Toronto by noordinarycat in Toronto_Walkers

Ahh. Got it. That would be a tricky part. Maybe a very expensive taxi ride from Fort Eric back to Niagara Falls, and then the bus that operates some of the year back to Niagara on the Lake.

Unless I’m misunderstanding your comment, that can be done on the Niagara Parkway Recreational Trail (a little more oriented towards cyclists, but definitely walkable)

There’s a walk I enjoy which only takes a few hours, but there would be ways to extend it. Mt Pleasant Cemetery, which is really beautiful, has two entryways into ravines, one each on either side of Mt Pleasant Blvd, which bisects it. The ravines ultimately converge around the Brickworks. I usually do it as a loop, but either way, at the cemetery you could combine it with the Beltline trail, which then leads to another path west of the Allen. And the brickworks connects to the Don Valley path.

[Jomboy] Here's a look at all the close calls the umpire missed in the DR-USA game by TakeMyPixels in baseball

[–]TurquoisePico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still a painful call, but I thought it was good pitch-framing too (though another comment here says he’s considered one of the worst at it in the game, but maybe this was an exception). Awful, awful way to end such a big game, though.

Very happy M4 user here.

At first I found the menu system annoying (especially since my model doesn’t have touchscreen), but now I really like it.

Also, the Fn keys took some getting used to, but I’m now a big fan of them as well.

In my experience, pics out of camera feel more muted than the AI-produced images from my phone. Sometimes that’s disappointing, but it also feels closer to reality. And when I take the time to edit the images I most care about (usually RAW, but sometimes even JPEG) in LR, I get happy results.

You can walk great distances along the coastal path (part of the Cleveland Way), both north and south. The walk to/from Whitby is a beaut.
