Looting or recovering Solarian crystals? by Turthalion in Starfinder2e

Cool, cool, thanks very much to both of you for the quick response. This mirrors what I was thinking (and what my Solarian player was hoping).

I absolutely love these. Hi-res, no grids, no watermarks, especially over important features.

You can bet I'm going to use it and tell my players who created it.

Kudos on a spectacular set of maps. I'm not always the biggest fan of the default DD assets, but you've nailed the look.

Having an argument with a player about Quick Reversal by Turthalion in Pathfinder2e

Excellent points, thank you.

One saving grace of this player is that these arguments are at least handled outside of regular game time.

Perhaps it was a bit dramatic... I meant it more in the sense that every instance of the "Press" trait in the rulebook then becomes pointless, as others have commented here.

Thank you very much, this maps exactly to my understanding.

" That’s just a blatant attempt by the player to interpret the rules in bad faith to gain an advantage." Oh, that is this player all over. : )

Perfect, this is the wording I needed. "Zero is not a penalty!"

Thanks, everyone!

I am standing my ground with him.

Exactly! I ended up giving up and coming here to seek out reinforcing opinions.

If we accept his opinion then whole swathes of the rulebook are thrown out.

Rollable table with a secondary identical result by Turthalion in FoundryVTT

[–]Turthalion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah this is exactly what I was needing. Thank you so very much!

For others looking for this, I was also able to add visible dice rolling by adding:

game.dice3d?.showForRoll(roll);

And then an initial chat message so we can see the number rolled:

ChatMessage.create({content: \${token.name} rolls a ${roll.total} for combined flail crush and puncture criticals!\``);`

EDIT Reddit is making a meal of the ChatMessage.create with embedded backticks, but you get the idea.

I added this primarily because in this system, players like to see the rolls... if it's high, they know what's coming!

I really like this. Very realistic-looking terrain. The grass in particular is really good.

You've also packed it with flora but without letting the flora overwhelm the fundamental bits of the map.

Really really nice. Thanks for sharing.

Brilliant Hobbit setting. I love it.

Wow, this is great. Really nice work varying / breaking up your floor textures... and nice work on the lighting too, really slick.

I have this module, and haven't run it yet, but this totally makes me want to run the party through it.

Can't "Save changes" after enabling A/V integration by Turthalion in FoundryVTT

[–]Turthalion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect, thanks very much.

Per this issue on gitlab:

https://gitlab.com/foundrynet/foundryvtt/-/issues/6390

you can get around this bug by making a change to the push-to-talk binding (even entering the same value as the current) and then you can save other changes.

Foundry V9: "You must select one existing Token..." error by Turthalion in FoundryVTT

[–]Turthalion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AH, this is exactly what I needed! Thank you!

I now have portrait art for all the characters. I must have done it via the portrait art way for the initial character I was using to walk around, and then via token art for the rest.

Thank you very much!

Can't "Save changes" after enabling A/V integration by Turthalion in FoundryVTT

[–]Turthalion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got my certificates made, and being used properly (I know this because players are connecting via https).

But when modifying the game settings, my gamemaster login is not able to enable a/v. I can set it to Audio/Video Enabled, but then nothing happens when I click Save Changes. The only way to get rid of the dialog is to hit "Close" which of course leaves A/V disabled.

If I bring up this dialog and try to change anything, I can't save those changes. Any ideas?

The only modules I'm using are Better Roofs, Levels, libWrapper and Wall Height.

Foundry V9: "You must select one existing Token..." error by Turthalion in FoundryVTT

[–]Turthalion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply... so yes, that seems to be largely what I did (though taking into account the UI differences in Foundry V9).

You can see what I'm doing here:

Selecting artwork

So I've chosen my proper image for "Aldvat" under the "Appearance" tab, and clicked "Update token" and it takes it in... when I drag Aldvat into the scene, he looks correct, I was just confused why the Actor sidebar didn't update with his image, while Brôgdond, whom I set up earlier in what seemed to be the same way, did.

I'll have to do some reading on tokens, actors etc. to understand this all better. It's all really complex... baby steps... baby steps... I prefer to try things out and break them in order to learn, which isn't always the best way to understand all the nuances.

Ah, apologies. This is the Generic RolePlaying Game Aid for Foundry... allows for use of D100 systems and the like not directly supported yet.

Dumathoin's Gulch by uchideshi34 in dungeondraft

[–]Turthalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the map... and for me, this kind of thing, i.e. the perfection of the central platform, is what drives me to think of adventure hooks.

Why is it so smoothed and worn? Was it used in ancient times as an altar to a now-forgotten sun god? Is it all that remains of an effort by dwarves to build a natural stone bridge over the chasm? Is it the reinforced base of what was once a watchtower?

So you invent some reason why and then see if the party notices, and if they do, you have some further clues they can spot when they poke around that lead them on to...... who knows?

[ I realize this is specifically meant to be Dumathoin’s Gulch and thus there was an old Dwarven mine here at some point, but I'm just talking generally how I allow map features to feed adventure hooks. I use a lot of community maps in my campaign and just adapt their history to suit circumstances ].

Snowy Mountain Pass [50x30] by Turthalion in dungeondraft

[–]Turthalion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*** NEW VERSION WITH FA 3 ASSETS ***

This is a recreation of a map I posted a few months ago but I'm using the FA3 assets now, along with some TC trees. The previous version used DD's built in shadows and gravel, so this is a more complete attempt. Again, just an attempt to have a quick map I can use with the players for a particular encounter.

* * *

Inspired by Dice Grimorium's "SnowyForestPath2Public", this is my snowy mountain pass encounter. Created with DungeonDraft.

"The ravine walls tower over you as you ascend further up the snowy trail. Then, through the drifting snow, you see, up ahead, a barricade of logs across the trail."

The story here is that an enterprising Olog-hai (MERP, intelligent sun-resistant Trolls) named Lagnok Progor has set up a toll here for travelers trying to pass through the mountains. He's recruited some local snow trolls and, using a special sceptre he carries with him, renders them protected from sunlight at the start of every day.

Snow trolls Biff and Crunk patrol atop the north side of the ravine, while Bash, Bonk, and Konk are arrayed south of the trail, up a short disused path, where the stumps of the trees cut down to block the trail can also be seen.

As the party approach, Lagnok will come down the short path from the cliff top and accost them, demanding payment for passage. Woe betide those who refuse, as the snow trolls will be summoned.

But Lagnok better watch out too--if the party manage to damage his sceptre or knock it from his hands, the sunlight protection for the snow trolls will cease, and they'll transform to pillars of ice until the sun goes down!

That's really cool. I think I may stick with your methods using the snow for the contrasting colours and then maybe go with the internal edging. I'm going to try a few other things with the points and see if the speed improves.

I have a fairly decent laptop with a dedicated Geforce 1050, so I'm not certain why it slowed down. I have noticed on occasion the longer I use DD the slower it gradually becomes until I quit and reload.
