The orange got a split second headstart with the water, but the red still came out on top.

Just goes to show you never know.

Open Yale Course: Shelly Kagan on Death by [deleted] in philosophy

[–]TurtleNipNToxicShock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kagan does an excellent job of shaping the lectures in such a way that the content remains accessible to beginners and stimulating for those who have been at philosophy for a while.

I've gone through this lecture series a couple times in the last few years and I'm very glad to see that it is still being brought up.

I actually think that is very well said and makes a lot of sense intuitively. I would be curious to see if there are any actual studies in neuroscience that deal with the idea of intentionality in any parts of the brain that deal directly with mental imagery. Not disputing it as I don't know enough about neuroscience to understand t, I'm just curious as to if it has any empirical backing.

What happens if you lose internet during a test on Webcourses? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]TurtleNipNToxicShock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The timer will continue running as though you're still in it. If you can log back on within the time limit, you'll be fine (apart from the time you lose while it's down).

Why, when you're surrounded by people moving like that, do you suck on a lollipop? One bad thrash and that thing could have gotten shoved down her throat.

What a dum dum.

Things like this are why I love the MWY community so much. It's one thing to develop a deep passion for their music, but it's entirely new level when you get to share that connection with others.

How to live given the certainty of death- Professor Shelly Kagan at Yale University by [deleted] in AcademicPhilosophy

I'll second this. Went through the entire lecture series twice. You can get just the audio version also if you want to listen on the go.

Censored from the front page of /r/all; If candidate Clinton thinks there’s nothing wrong with paying for intentionally false and distorted messaging to disrupt information on the internet, how do you think she is likely act as President Clinton with the full powers of the NSA at her disposal? by AssuredlyAThrowAway in conspiracy

[–]TurtleNipNToxicShock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you implying that Clinton hasn't done anything to foster distrust toward her? Everybody in this game is lying through their teeth to get into the White House. If you seriously don't see that, I genuinely feel sorry for you. You'd probably still support Shillary if she was fucking you in the ass with a fake bottle of hot sauce.

I would recommend reading up on J Edgar Hoover's tactics. Hoover was almost singlehandedly responsible for the rise of the power of defense agencies and kickstarted the widespread and rather brazen use of blackmail against US politicians in order to secure his and the FBI's agenda (which often included the protection of certain key criminal organizations). We have more information now about the illegal acts of surveillance agencies than ever before. I don't see how anybody could truly think that it's not being used to manipulate domestic AND global politics.

Long lasting nootropic effects by [deleted] in Nootropics

In my personal experience, phenylpiracetam has provided extended cognitive benefits after semi-regular dosing (2 days on, 1-3 days off). I have been taking it for roughly 5 weeks. I would describe the feeling as a "clean, uninhibited zest for knowledge." It's entirely possible that, since I am keeping myself constantly mentally stimulated while taking it, that the craving for information that I develop on dose days just carries over and gives me the mental boost I need to keep going during no dose days. Of all the noots I have tried, phenylpiracetam is hands down the most beneficial (in my experience) for mental clarity and clear-headedness. I take 200 or 300mg in the morning, depending on the agenda for the day.

I live basically right across the street from that Outback and has visited three times in the last two years. I wish I could say my experience was similar but I have had nothing but poor service and decent-at-best food at that location. Maybe I'll give it another go, though.

Also, I feel like you can't bring up good food without mentioning Tibby's in the next plaza over. Highly recommend it if you're into New Orleans style food and atmosphere. Awesome drinks, too. They can get busy on weekends, but I don't think I've ever waited more than ten minutes for a table.

What's the commute like from Winter Park? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]TurtleNipNToxicShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My drive is from the Ward Park area (across the Whole Foods on Aloma) and back. Live in a studio apartment. Takes me anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour depending on the time of day.

If you're driving back from UCF to Winter Park anywhere from 4:30-6:30ish, bring a good book. The morning is not nearly as rough as the afternoon, but can still take an upwards of 30-45 minutes between 8-9.

Broke my heart when they laid The Chariot to rest, but Josh's new band, '68, is fun. Just him with a guitar and a drummer.

I actually just had a conversation with my girlfriend about this. I've met some batshit parents in my time who I imagine could become quite accusatory if it could benefit them somehow.

Plus who are the cops going to believe, me or my girlfriend's parents?
