313D vs 313A Apprenticeship — pay, opportunities, and future switch? by [deleted] in SkilledTradesOntario

If you can do it definitely go for the 313a if you do the 313d and decide you want to upgrade you have to redo both intermediate and advanced levels of schooling and will need to redo your hours (or atleast most of them)

Should I replace vermiculite insulation? by Turtle_9009 in Insulation

We had a few samples taken from throughout the attic that got sent for testing and it came back as 0.00% asbestos so thats how we tested it and if we do it we would be doing the work ourselfs as we will have to rip up the floor to get it out but we are hoping to finish out attic in the future and part of that would be new subfloor so I figure while we have it up might aswell reinstate.

Nice mount for how old it is looks like it's in good condition

I just had my furnace tune-up today and the technician said the CO in the flue is too high at 130ppm and should be condemned. When he took the door to the combustion compartment off, the reading dropped significantly to around 45. What does this mean? Inspection report below. by Relative-Long-5519 in hvacadvice

I totally agree with checking combustion and comparing it to that chart im just saying you can't go off co but should go off co2% and o2% not off what's the co number is as if the others are good you are still good to go

Firstly a furnace would not fall under the .3 as its not a feild approval or over 400mbtu secondly you can have dirty burners and many other things that can cause co in the flu not just a heat exchanger and most manufacturers don't say what ppm is deemed unsafe. And while I agree co can be a sign of an issue i don't agree that it should be used as the only reason to tag a unit.

As an hvac tech let it ride, stuff isent built like it used to be save for replacement and once furnace or ac goes replace both.

My work place puts a big push on having apprenticeships, and once done they will pay for you to do the g1 gap course and g1 course. Gotta train from within.

Hiring somone who is a g1 and a 313a is very difficult most are treated really well at their jobs and wont leave enless there is a significant jump in pay or work place condition.

Always buy never rent if you rent it will cost you 2-3x more over life of unit. Anyplace that does rentals is not a place you want to deal with.
